Imagine. Waking up to birdsong and the crash of surf. It is still dark outside and you are dressed for yoga with a beach towel rolled under your arms. You open your cottage door wide open just as Rahul, the night reception clerk, reaches to ring the doorbell for your wake-up call. Imagine his surprise. Waving goodbye, you run past him through the drizzle with your umbrella to the Yogashala for an hour-long yoga session with Shyam, the yoga master. As the sun’s first rays scatter the rain, you are arching up midway through a surya namaskara. Imagine holding on to this yoga bliss. Leisurely walking back to your cottage on a red brick pathway, smelling the flowers, watching the coconut palms sway against a brilliant blue sky, you observe your neighbor walking straight and proud, a twinkle in her eyes. So different from what you saw the day she checked in. All of your neighbors have lost weight, one has given up smoking, one a toxic relationship and one had a kundalini awakening. The lady gardeners from the fishing community are waving hello to you, their sickles and jute sacks in hand, clearing away succulent grass for their cows which supply fresh milk like you never tasted before. One comes over to gently tuck a wild flower in your hair. Imagine yourself giggle with joy. As you shower with gentle ayurvedic toiletries, you can hear the laughter yoga session in full swing. Every staff member is there. Mr. Joji, the operations manager, is getting goofy to get everyone laughing. You come out to laugh at them laughing. On your way to Saatvika, the in-house beach side restaurant serving scrumptious vegetarian fare and tropical fruit, you run into Praveena and Daisy, your therapists for the day. They remind you about your ayurveda treatment times. You drink in the fresh ocean breeze and the sun-dappled greenery everywhere. That was just the beginning of a typical day at Sitaram Beach Retreat. So many more days to come, each holding the promise of transformation. What do you want to see manifested in your life here?
