About this trip

Washington DC, has enough history, culture, quality dining, and shopping to spend a year here!  However, we are going to do our best to show you the highlights of our Nation’s Capital during this 5 day tour.  While here, we will see the original Declaration of Independence and US Constitution. Explore the National Mall, see the Washington Monument, visit the Vietnam Memorial, World War II memorial, Korean War Memorial, and more. We will enjoy a driving tour of the city, and will get the chance to take a tour of Ford's Theatre. We will request Pentagon and White House tickets (These tickets are not guaranteed, and you must register at least 60 days before departure to request tickets). Although parts of our itinerary will be guided, in order to pack the most in, you will have an entire day on your own to visit your favorite Smithsonian Museums.  If time permits, we will visit Arlington Cemetery and ride the tram for a guided tour that takes us to the John F. Kennedy Gravesite to see the eternal flame, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the powerful Changing of the Guard ceremony.  Of course, we will also have a chance to take a tour of Mount Vernon, the estate and final resting place of George and Martha Washington. Here, we will have a chance to have lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant, where we will enjoy the flavors of early America. Tour participants should be comfortable walking on city streets and sidewalks around D.C. and on unpaved surfaces at Mount Vernon. If you have a particular interest in one area of focus and wish to cater a trip more specifically to any area of Washington, we are happy to customize a trip for your group. Just ask!

I had a good time but would rather pay more to have better seats and hopefully more leg room.

As always, Mark and Cheri took great care of all of us senior citizens. It's always been a fun trip with them in charge.

What an awesome trip! Everything was planned to perfection by APlus Tours: the hotel was beautiful and in a perfect location, the busses were on time and clean and the drivers were the best, lunch at the Pirate House was delicious as was breakfast at Henry's, plenty of free time to explore on your own and a wonderful Christmas Tradition show at the Savannah Theatre and much more. Thank you, Mark and Cheri, for all your hard work to make our travel experience such a positive one!
