Entrepreneurs play a key role in any economy, using the skills and initiative necessary to anticipate needs and bring good new ideas to market. We are excited to share a new economy of Cape Town, South Africa with the St. Charles County CAPS Community in helping to empower their students to discovering their mission.
The students of the Global Business/Entrepreneurship will get to meet local entrepreneurs in Cape Town, hear their stories and take a tour of some businesses in Cape Town.
We will be staying at the beautiful Garden Court Nelson Mandela Boulevard. Feel free to check out their website here
For guests looking to share a room.
Scenically beautiful, Cape Town is a compelling mix of trendy modern and old-world elegance. Glamorous hotels, world-class dining and stunning vistas merge seamlessly with dynamic student suburbs and vibrant nightlife. Malay and African heritage is evident in the cuisine, traditions and entertainment while the architecture reveals a strong Dutch, German and English flavor and style. Contemporary art is proudly displayed in a variety of galleries and modern boutique hotels, and wine bars and brandy tasting lounges will appeal to the fashionable set. For the well-heeled the finest in opera, ballet, drama and music can be appreciated in style. Cape Town was Nelson Mandela’s “home” for three decades, and it played a pivotal role in his journey from prisoner to president. This afternoon you will embark on a walk that covers approximately 2km of the historic and cultural heart of Cape Town and brings to life the journey Mandela took from his conviction in 1964 at the Rivonia Trial until he became a global icon of bravery and freedom. If there's time, we will visit Robben Island, there infamous jail Nelson Mandela spent his years in.
