Rio’s Carnival sparkles on the Avenue, but the real magic happens backstage in the Samba Schools’ wharehouses, located at Cidade do Samba in the Port Zone. Now, you can experience this enchantment up close on a unique tour behind the scenes!
An Immersive Journey into Samba’s Workshop
Your experience begins with a comfortable transfer to Cidade do Samba, where your tour guide introduces the space’s role in Rio’s creative economy and cultural heritage. There, you’ll be welcomed by professionals who live and breathe Carnival year-round.
Walking through a Samba School’s workshop is to witness the creation of Carnival’s vibrant narrative. See monumental floats, finely detailed allegorical sculptures, and intricately embroidered costumes—months of craftsmanship culminating in one of the world’s greatest cultural spectacles.
Creative Economy & the Art of Carnival
Beyond the pageantry, this tour highlights Carnival’s creative economy—an industry that sustains thousands, from costume makers to set designers. Visiting the barracões reveals how Carnival contributes to cultural preservation and economic resilience.
