Let’s bond over a cultural rich visit to one of the most symbolic towns of Latin America: The World Cultural heritage village San Basilio de Palenque- The World Cultural heritage village Palenque was the very first liberated village of America!  It was founded by Benkos Biohó, (male version of Harriet Tubman) an escaped slave who hid here with 36 other men and women. Until the sixties, San Basilio de Palenque remained mainly isolated without connecting roads and was thereby able to maintain a unique language that is not spoken anywhere else in the world. This community remained supported by their own women who built maps and roads in their hair braiding patters to get oriented in the woods and make it to the village where they were considered free. We will interact with the locals, performance of traditional music group and traditional dances, information of the history and town lead by local guides. Lunch included

Today’s the perfect opportunity to discover local attractions that make Cartagena a must visit place. Explore the open markets, discover the charm of the cobblestone streets as you trek through the city, or simply hang out with a cocktail poolside at our accommodations. Today is your day to do as you please.

Let’s get this week started off right and enjoy Playa Blanca- a lovely stretch of sugary sand and one of the finest beaches around Cartagena. Pack your sunscreen and your favorite red and yellow swimwear! We are officially on Baewatch! Fun in the sun, beach massages and Afro Colombia Music- the perfect recipe!!!

After enjoying lunch and beach time fun we will visit villages in the towns of Ararca & Santa Ana for more knowledge of Afro Colombian history and culture.

We are starting our day bright and early as we head to purify ourselves at the Totumo Mud Volcano. Also known as the “Fountain of Youth” this mud bath is known to have medicinal components that leave your skin feeling baby soft!

Tonight is our All white farewell dinner. Let’s enjoy our last meal together and reflect on our Epic experience in Cartagena.
