About this trip

The Fishing

BonefishThe fertile waters of Xcalak have long been world renown for bonefishing, with flats holding incredible numbers of bonefish year round. Most of these fish are in the 2 to 4 pound size class, although fish up to 7 pounds are very common!

PermitSituated in one of the most unspoiled coastal environments in the world, Xcalak is the perfect place to hunt permit. With less angling pressure than nearby Belize and abundant fish ranging from 5 to 50 pounds, Xcalak truly is a permit fishing paradise!

Other SpeciesCasa Cangrejo boasts year round fishing opportunities for tarpon of all sizes, as well as for numerous other species such as snook, jacks, barracuda, and sharks!

Getting HereAnglers travelling to Casa Cangrejo will fly into Tulum International Airport before being transported to the lodge by a member of our staff in one of our comfortable vans. The drive from Tulum to the lodge is roughly 3 hours long, but follows mostly paved roads making for a comfortable ride.

Fishing DaysFollowing a delicious breakfast, anglers will be picked up by their guides at 8am in front of the lodge. Run times vary based on the flats to be fished, but most boat rides will have you fishing within 30 minutes! At the end of your day, your guide will drop you back off in front of the lodge, where you can then wash off your gear and head to the common area to enjoy a well deserved beverage!
