About Srivatsa Ramaswami

As Krishnamacharya’s longest standing student outside his immediate family, Srivatsa Ramaswami has mastered Vinyasa Krama, Vedic chanting, and Yoga therapy. He has studied the classic Yoga texts extensively, has recorded more than 35 cassettes of Sanskrit mantra, and has written four books: Yoga for the Three Stages of Life, Basic Tenets of Patanjala Yoga, The Complete Book of Vinyasa Yoga, and Yoga Beneath the Surface.

For over 30 years, Ramaswami has taught Krishnamacharya’s classical vinyasa yoga in universities, hospitals and yoga studios throughout England, Mexico, the United States and India. He has taught workshops and Teacher Training programs in the US at the Esalen Institute, Loyola Marymount University, Yoga Works, the Himalayan Institute, Chicago Yoga Center and many others. Ramaswami has developed Krishnamacharya’s teachings into what may be the most highly evolved program available for making yoga a way of life, rather than simply a routine.

Passionate and inspirational, Ryan Leier brings a creative energy to every class he teaches, whether in his own One Yoga studios or as an ambassador of yoga to communities around the world. With a distinct expression of ancient traditions that touches his students’ hearts, Ryan’s commitment to honouring his teachers leads him to be equally devoted to continuing his studies as to teaching. Ryan is primarily a student of the Krishamacharya yoga lineage having received teachings directly from the Master, Sri BKS Iyengar and the Ashtanga Guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Registered as an E-RYT 500, RCYT, the highest designation with the Yoga Alliance, Ryan also trains with the extraordinary teachers Father Joe Pereira (Iyengar Yoga); Baron Baptiste; Dina T; Danny Paradise; Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane (Maya Yoga); and Srivatsa Ramaswami (Vinyasa Krama). Ryan is rooted in local sacred teachings, and he regularly studies and serves the Elders in his home province of Saskatchewan.

Had such an incredible time! From the studio, to the people, the weather, the Hawain vibe, and of course Ryan Lier made the classes so amazing! A trip I’ll never forget!

The most amazing instructor in Ryan Lier and the studio space was incredible!! I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in a yoga retreat.
Wonderful people, powerful yoga with my beloved teacher, some of the best days of my life.
I had a fantastic time! As always, I learned a huge amount from Ryan (and the other participants), I pushed myself to discover new boundaries and thoroughly loved every minute. Caitlin and Savannah were super helpful and accommodating. One thing I might suggest is a group dinner early on in the training to let everyone bond outside of the classroom/studio. The final night of the community gong bath and diner was when I felt we all came together as group, and it was the last time we were together. As a solo traveller and not being from the West Coast or part of a ONE Yoga Community, I felt a bit separated at times. But everyone, including the Icelanders were friendly and compassionate. I would not hesitate to sign up for another training with Ryan, regardless of the location!!!
