About this trip

 Climb a beautiful volcano in the North of Ecuador 

Packing list

 

Special Mountaineering gear: mountaineering  plastic boots,  polar jacket/pants, waterproof  jacket/pants, Polar and waterproof gloves, crampons, , ice axe, gaiters, climbing harness, walking sticks, helmet,  sunglasses, face mask, headlight.  


Necessary Equipment: inside polar gloves, energy drinks and snacks, camera, sun cream, warm walking trousers, puffer jacket or similar, wool hat, large rucksack (50-70 liter), reasonably day pack (35 liters),  camelback type vessel for water, hiking boots, personal water bottle, personal items,  2 pairs batteries AAA.

Cayambe Climbing Tour 2
Climb a beautiful volcano in the North of Ecuador

 

Day 1. We will start our Cayambe Climbing Tour 2 Days leaving from Quito at 11:00 a.m. and drive to Cayambe town for taking our lunch right there. After that, We will take our car and drive For 1.30 hours to Ruales Oléas Berge refuge at 4700 m. into the Cayambe Coca reserve. Some facilities this refuge has as Electricity, Shower, Cafeteria, etc. Otherwise we will hike for around 2 hours  to see  the climate conditions and it is part of our first acclimatization. Once again into the hut, our guide will explain us some safety recommendations and a ropes introduction. After dinner, We will rest a moment and wait for our Cayambe climbing..

From messaging about different options to booking through to a pululahua crater hike and then equator line museum it was great experience. A fabulous walk down into the crater (1 mile down) then two hilly hikes and back up to the rim. So glad we had messaged with Patricio before booking as he suggested the perfect trip for us. Lovely lunch provided. Marcial was a great guide plus a sweet dog we named Bobi who walked the whole day with us. Then we went to the equator line museum which was informative and fun. Would totally recommend
