Ready for part summer camp and part retreat? Come join us for glamping and yoga in the lush Blue Ridge Mountains. If wagging your tail in downdog, eating farm-to-table feasts, and relaxing into ancient mountains sounds like your kind of Covid relief plan, read on.
Our home for the week will be the spectacular Paint Rock Farm, a 163-acre organic hemp farm and private conservation forest. Overlooking the French Broad River and surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest, this location beckons you to slow down and breathe it all in.
Once we arrive at the top of the gravel road, you won’t need (or want) to be anywhere else for the rest of the week. You’ll feel the sweet mountain breeze pass through the bohemian-style glamping cabin as you drop your bags and your burdens. Put your feet up and settle onto your private deck looking over the river or the meadow.
As the sun rises over the dewy meadow each morning, we’ll gather in a renovated tobacco barn for an energizing and creative yoga practice. During the afternoon restorative session, we’ll release creaky joints, learn therapy ball massage, and sink into yin poses. A week of yoga will peel away layers of aches and anxieties. You will leave deeply realigned and strengthened from the inside out.
Possibly the best part of the week: You won’t be responsible for a single meal. Our private chef will source from dozens of bakeries, creameries, and area farms to prepare the best of the summer bounty. She knows how to celebrate delicious Southern food traditions with healthy meals that honor dietary restrictions.
You are free to join a group hike, listen to live music, or enjoy a bonfire. There will also be plenty of downtime to read, nap in your cabin, or just stare out into the wildflowers. FYI, we’ll be easing up on the booze and the wifi is limited. But you can plug in to the surrounding forest and there’s a wide-open sky of intoxicating constellations.
On the weekends before and after the retreat, we encourage you to explore Western North Carolina. Asheville offers boisterous breweries, lots of music, and a thriving arts scene. The town nearest to Paint Rock Farm, Hot Springs, offers natural thermal springs and is a hiker’s paradise with the Appalachian Trail passing right through town. We are happy to offer suggestions but we do recommend making reservations well in advance. We will coordinate drop-offs for local tourism or to get you heading home.
We commit to intentional inclusivity. We welcome the glorious spectrum of colors, genders, shapes, sizes, adult ages, and yoga levels. We understand that as we accept more parts of ourselves, we accept more parts of humanity. Given the rustic environment and the physicality of the event, we will do our best to accommodate varied abilities and ensure that all activities are optional. Building a diverse community takes effort and we are here for that rewarding work.
