About this trip

We'll stay seven nights / days at the wonderful Milelja Yoga Retreat Center on Lesvos. They have a beautiful, sacred round yoga den, great swimming pool, nice grounds to wander, sauna, and wonderful meals. Yoga retreat groups return every year; it's so popular it was hard for me to reserve a space (a very good sign, one I look for when I book retreat centers!).

Enjoy up to twice daily yoga, meditation, playshops on various healing, growth and empowerment themes, and kirtan (call and response heart chanting). In your downtime, you can enjoy hiking, swimming, and exploring the island. Our retreat center is a 10 minute walk to the beach and 15 minute walk to the amazing town of Molyvos, with wonderful Greek ambiance and great food. And, for those who are interested, there are a variety of optional side trips to enrich your experience (see below).

Retreat packages begin at $1,495 per person double or triple occupancy, or $1,395 per person if your deposit is paid by January 1, 2017. Also, please note that there are some more spacious, deluxe accommodations available for an extra $100 per person, again double or triple occupancy.

A $300 deposit saves your space with the balance due 60 days prior to trip departure (when possible). The deposit is generally nonrefundable. 75% of the balance may be refunded if you cancel >30 days prior to trip, 50% may be refunded if you cancel 15-30 days prior to the trip, and no refund can be made <15 days prior to trip unless the retreat center is able to return a portion of the proceeds I've paid on your behalf.

Before You Go

Why Greece?

Greece has been an amazing destination for many years. Recently, the country has gone through some challenges, but those challenges have opened up some amazing bargains. So we not only found amazing accommodations at bargain prices, but we have a chance to support the island’s economy and this family run business when they need it most. Lesvos is the island that the Pope visited in 2015 to bring words of hope and solitary to the refugees who were staying on the island at that time. The island is beautiful and there are no refugee problems where we will be staying.

Travel Details

Nearly all of us will fly into Athens, where you are on your own to stay a night or two if you choose. Then you have a choice of taking a ferry or flying into Mytilini on Lesvos. The flight costs about $100 each way, or $200 round trip. Plan to arrive on Lesvos by June 3 at the latest, as that night is included in your trip, and we begin that day. Then you could fly or ferry out on or after June 10. You can find more info on both the flights and ferries here.

Itinerary

Every Thursday
Lesvos West
This excursion will give you a very nice picture of the natural beauties of the rocky, western part of the island. We first visit the monastery of Lemonos which was founded in the 15th century and its museum of old icons. Then we follow the road up and down the hills to Vatousa, a traditional village for a coffee break and a walk around in the streets! Our next stop is the world’s most famous Petrified Forest. After intense geological and volcanic activity the trees were covered by volcanic ash and due to chemical reactions the wood turned to stone. Last stop of the day is at Skala Eresos, a little old fisher village with a wonderful sandy beach. Enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants by the sea or just walk around the small streets with little shops, restaurants and coffee bars. We return via the same road or via Mesotopo (if we have guests from Kalloni). Price: $40 (adults), $20 (children 7-12), 0-6 free.
