About this trip

To discover the birthplace of mountain sports, look no further than Chamonix, situated at the base of the highest mountain in the Alps, Mont Blanc. In addition to various mountain disciplines, the Chamonix Valley, also called "La Vallée du Trail," is also a hub for the top trail and mountain runners of the world to train and race. Our Chamonix Runcation offers an opportunity for runners to run and vacation while enjoying guided trail running tours of the best trails around Mont Blanc. No views are sacrificed this week on our guided trail running tour of Chamonix as we combine our favorite trails and vistas around the Mont Blanc massif into 7 days. Along the way, enjoy our curated Chamonix highlights of scenic and runnable trails, comfortable mountain chalets, and favorite cappuccino and cuisine spots as we run through France, Switzerland, and Italy on this adventure.

Our Chamonix Runcation includes two nights in a hotel in Chamonix, France, one night in a hotel in a neighboring town, one night in a mountain refuge, and two nights in a hotel in Courmayeur, Italy. This trail covers some of the top trails in the area as well as segments of the Mont Blanc Marathon, Skyracing course, and the world famous ultramarathon Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) run each August. In addition to guided runs with experienced running coaches, this training camp includes an opportunity to discuss sports nutrition, injury prevention, gait analysis and plenty of training days. You'll also have the option to add on one of the famous Mont Blanc Marathon races!

If you're an experienced runner or athlete in good health, this Chamonix Runcation Training Camp is for you. This vacation is perfect for:

-runners training for UTMB, Mont Blanc marathon, or European trail races

-trail or mountain runners looking for a week of quality running and vacationing on guided trails

-road racers, track, cross country, and trail runners looking for an introduction to mountain running training

-athletes of all disciplines that are healthy and in good fitness looking for summer running vacation on soft surfaces and high mileage

This retreat is open to runners of various paces and disciplines that are looking for an opportunity to combine travel, running, and vacationing. Your pace is not as important, but you must be able to complete 7-15 miles/day of hiking/running, including dramatic elevation gain and loss. You can find out detailed mileage and ascent/descent information in our detailed itinerary. There are also options to add on mileage on some days. Rooms are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. If you are inclined to participate, book or contact the organizer ASAP as rooms will book up in advance by other vacationers.


While there are guides to accommodate every pace of attending runner, this trip requires participants to be able to run/hike for 10-20 miles on trails at a time in mountainous/high altitude climates. Training for this trip is highly necessary, and you can participate in the 12-week group training program designed specifically for this trip as a package add-on to ensure you're able to tackle the trails and get maximum enjoyment of this running retreat!


Although the weather in the summer is often ideal, weather in the mountains is variable and trail conditions are subject to change. Route subjective to change based on the safety of conditions and climate of the trails.

Chamonix Meet-and-Greet
Day 1

July 1: Our trip will start the afternoon of July 1 with a meet-and-greet and orientation meeting to meet the guides and go over the logistics and itinerary of the upcoming week! We recommend that you arrive in Chamonix early to adjust to the time change and explore the fabulous markets, trails, and atmosphere of Chamonix.

This trip was a great time! Liz was super organized, knowledgeable, and an all-around good time! The food was great, and the mountain views were unbeatable. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants an active holiday!
Runcation in the Dolomites was a dream vacation. It was the perfect mix of challenging yet rewarding running and hiking. We experienced endless breathtaking views and a spectacular scenery, we enjoyed plenty of cappuccinos, wine, delicious food, and restful afternoons, and made new friends to top it all off! If you are a runner who loves trails and beautiful mountains, I strongly encourage you to go on this trip!
I had a wonderful trip! The Dolomites were the perfect location for a trail running vacation, and Liz picked a wonderful route for us! The refugios were fantastic, comfortable lodging with great food and drink. I would highly recommend this trip!
