About this trip

Champa Devi, the third-highest hill around Kathmandu Valley at 2278 meters, is one of the best destinations to see Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts, beautiful eye-catching mountains and its ranges such as Mt. Everest, Ganesh Himal, Annapurna, Langtang, Gaurishanker, etc. For a person who has very little time to spend in Nepal and wants to see the whole Kathmandu Valley and the panoramic views of many beautiful mountains, the Champadevi Panoramic hike can be the right destination.

Kirtipur, an ancient Newar township, and the cultural place are situated 8 km southwest of Kathmandu. Its major attractions are the Chovar hill, a very scenic spot located near Kirtipur, the temple of Adinath, situated on the top of the hill, the Chilamcho Stupa, the temple of Bagh Bhairav, Uma Maheshwar temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Shri Kirti Bihara, a Buddhist Monastery. A visit to Kirtipur is cultural sightseeing where you can also enjoy the Newari traditional lifestyle.

Itinerary

Day 1
Kathmandu To Champa Devi, Onward To Kirtipur & Return To Kathmandu

After having your breakfast, our team will pick you up and drive to Pharping village (on the way to the Dakshinkali temple). On the way, we pass by two important historical towns: Kirtipur and Chovar which you will visit later. On reaching Pharping village, you start your stunning walk towards the Champa Devi Hill along the way of Pine forest. It takes about 3 hours to reach the top and admire the superb natural surroundings along with the Hindu shrine and stupa of the hill.

From the top, you can enjoy the panorama view of Kathmandu Valley. Hike back to Pharping and drive to Chovar and Kirtipur. Afterward, you drive to Chovar Hill which is on the way back to Kathmandu. Visit Jal Binayak holy temple of Lord Ganesh. Later, we will climb towards Adinath temple which lies at the height of Chovar Hill. The Chovar and Kirtipur hills are separated by a valley in between. Then we visit Chilamcho stupa, traditional homes of Newar communities, Bagh Bhairab Temple, Uma Maheshwar, Shri Kirti Bihar and finally go for traditional restaurants that provide us with delicious and healthy Newari cuisine at Kirtipur. Afterward, you will return to your hotel, which marks the end of the Champadevi Panoramic Hike.
