About this trip

When I think of Chenille, I think of grandma's house and the bedspread with fuzzy lanes of fluff in a special design. In this class, we will learn how to make our own chenille with fabric panels. This lap throw is about 35"x42" and is the perfect size for a wheelchair or recliner lap-sized blanket. Come early to pick your panel pack and get ready to sew, sew, sew before you cut, cut, cut.

Meet Your Instructor, Chelce

Chelce Detert is the owner of Creative Dimensions: Quilt Academy & Supply in Minot, ND. She has sewn since about 8 years old but started her love of machine quilting in her 20's when she got her first longarm quilting machine. She teaches, travels, and tries to encourage people along the way. Her goal is to love people through fabric. The Bear Creek Bunny Retreat with Teresa was an amazing experience! I learned so much about needle felting and creating these whimsical characters. Teresa is a wonderful teacher. The Nome Schoolhouse is a inspiring place to learn so many different fiber arts skills.

What an amazing experience! I learned more about fiber processing than I expected. The time in the fiber mill was priceless. Chris's excitement and enthusiasm was infectious and you could tell fiber is her passion. The accommodations and meals were great! All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I feel lucky that this place is less than 2 hours from me. I hope to be back for a meal, shopping, or another retreat!

This was another FANTASTIC weekend at Nome Schoolhouse as our annual FCS retreat. Blessed to have this opportunity in our rural state. Chris is a phenomenal host and a 'Jack of all Trades,' ALWAYS willing to go above and beyond to make the customer feel at home. A relaxing weekend of fun, food, and friends!! :)

BEAUTIFUL setting. The perfect place for a quiet retreat or small wedding, family reunion, etc. The old schoolhouse has been restored so incredibly well. Definitely a one of a kind place! The food is AMAZING and service can't be beat. I have visited three years in a row and they just keep getting better! Definitely recommend going out of your way to see this place!
