Water Taxi - Michigan Ave.

Welcome everyone! Our journey begins right here along Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago, where we’ll be meeting as a group before heading out together.

From here, we’ll hop aboard the Chicago Water Taxi for a scenic ride down the Chicago River toward Chinatown. As we travel along the water, you’ll get a unique view of the city’s famous skyline, historic buildings, and riverfront կյանք that you can’t see from the streets.

The ride offers a relaxing break from the busy downtown area and sets the tone for the cultural journey ahead. As we leave behind the towering skyscrapers of Michigan Avenue, we’ll make our way toward one of Chicago’s most vibrant and culturally rich neighborhoods.

So get ready to enjoy the views, take some photos, and start getting excited—Chinatown awaits!

Ping Tom Memorial Park

Welcome to Ping Tom Memorial Park, the first stop on our Chinatown tour. Nestled along the south branch of the Chicago River, this 17-acre park offers a peaceful escape right in the heart of the city. Named after civic leader Ping Tom, the park is a symbol of the neighborhood’s growth and cultural pride.

As you look around, you’ll notice traditional Chinese design elements woven throughout the landscape, from the red pagoda-style pavilion to the winding pathways that reflect classical garden aesthetics. The park is not only a place for relaxation, but also a gathering space for community events, cultural festivals, and outdoor activities.

Take in the skyline views, watch boats pass along the river, and enjoy how this space blends natural beauty with cultural heritage. It’s a perfect introduction to the rich history and vibrant life of Chinatown.

Food & Culture Walking Tour

Next, we continue with a Guided Food and Culture Walking Tour through the heart of Chinatown. This part of the experience brings the neighborhood to life through its flavors, traditions, and everyday energy.

As we walk along Wentworth Avenue and nearby streets, you’ll pass a variety of local favorites—from bakeries filled with freshly made buns to restaurants serving regional Chinese dishes. Spots like MingHin Cuisine and Chiu Quon Bakery showcase the diversity of Chinese cuisine, from dim sum to classic pastries.

Along the way, you’ll also notice cultural landmarks, colorful murals, herbal shops, and traditional gift stores. These places reflect the history of immigration, community, and cultural preservation that define Chinatown today.

This walking tour isn’t just about food—it’s about understanding how culture, tradition, and modern life blend together in one vibrant neighborhood. So take in the sights, enjoy the aromas, and get a true taste of Chinatown.

China Town Square Plaza

Our next stop is Chinatown Square Plaza, a vibrant open-air plaza that serves as a central hub of culture, shopping, and community life.

Unlike traditional American shopping centers, Chinatown Square is designed with strong Chinese architectural influences. As you walk through, you’ll notice colorful buildings, decorative tiles, and open courtyards that create a lively and welcoming atmosphere. This plaza is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and cultural businesses. There’s something here for everyone to explore.

Final Stop

Boba/ Tea Wind-Down

Our final stop is an optional visit to a cozy tea or boba shop, where you can relax and wrap up the tour. After exploring the sights, flavors, and culture of Chinatown, this is the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a refreshing drink.

Whether you’re trying boba for the first time or already have a favorite, there’s something for everyone.

Take this time to sit, chat, and reflect on everything you’ve experienced throughout the tour. It’s also a great chance to connect with your group, share your favorite moments, and say goodbye to the new friends you’ve made along the way.

Thank you for joining the Chinatown tour—we hope you leave with great memories, new knowledge, and maybe even a new favorite drink!
