Your role as a volunteer entails collaborating closely with teachers to implement the daily curriculum. You'll have the chance to participate in diverse activities such as special education, arts and crafts, one-on-one sessions, assisting in physical education and sports activities. Facilitating sessions on reading, maths, and cultural exchange. By joining this teaching project as a volunteer, you'll actively contribute to enhancing the students' literacy and numeracy skills.
Whether you're on a gap year, taking a career break, conducting university research, or seeking a fulfilling experience, you're welcome to participate in this teaching assistant project. No prior experience is necessary – just your enthusiasm and willingness to make a positive impact.

Keep in mind that this project will be temporarily closed during school exams and holidays, specifically in early January, April, July - August, and late December. If you are only able to travel during these times, we request that you explore other project options to participate in.
Summer vacation is a time of year when many students are excited for school to end. However, in Jamaica, school is important because it provides opportunities for learning, recreation, and even food that might not be available at home.
During your community service, learn about the problems that have come up in the community since COVID and the opportunities available to the children. You can work with the youth and teach them math, reading, and other activities to help them improve their communication skills.
This program offers opportunities for you to have fun and adventure. Whether you are climbing the six hundred feet cascading waterfalls of Dunn’s River Falls or sitting on a beach, enjoying the beautiful turquoise Caribbean Sea, you will be sure to get a sense of the relaxed, Jamaican vibes.
You’ll also get a chance to see Jamaica’s bustling capital city, Kingston. There, you’ll learn about the history of the town and understand why it is called the cultural capital of the Caribbean. On your next stop, visit Bob Marley’s former home which is now a museum, and learn why he was not only a Reggae legend but a humanitarian who tried to unite the world with his notion of “One Love”.

Students will share comfortable, gender-segregated, air-conditioned dorm-style rooms with shared bathrooms. The menu served at our home base is authentic traditional Jamaican meals. They’re delicious, fresh, and made with love!
As you arrive at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, you'll see why the island is called the “Land of Wood and Water”. From the airport, journey to your accommodation to the picturesque hills of smokey-vale.
On arrival get settled in your new home as you get quick tips on the culture of Jamaica. The rest of the day is to explore your new community. Tonight have a welcome dinner and hang out with your new friends as you get to know each other.
Have fun as you learn to speak the Jamaican local dialect ‘Patois”. During your tour, you will get a chance to practice your new Patois skills when you interact with locals.
