About this trip

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DATES ARE APPROXIMATE, I KNOW EASTER IS VERY EARLY THIS YEAR! Please sign up for the waitlist for more details.

Join me in Chile in March of 2027, as their summer transitions into fall, for an epic adventure in food, wine, and culture! The tour takes place in Santiago, Colchagua, and Casablanca Valleys.

My last visit to Chile in 2017, and 10 years later feels like the absolute right time for another foray to this incredible country. In the ensuing 10 years, Chile is coming into its own right with world class wines, honoring and celebrating their indigenous cultures and ingredients, and their arts, culture, and history have always been world-class.

If you have more time, and are feeling extra adventurous, I can help you put together a pre-trip to Easter Island and a post-trip to the Atacama desert. Wouldn't it be fun to go to Rapa Nui, Easter Island ON EASTER?!

¡Bienvenidos a Santiago!

Overnight: Hotel Bidasoa or similar

Meals included: Welcome Dinner

Welcome to Santiago and the start of our adventures in Chile.

You have an included transfer from the airport to our centrally located and well-appointed hotel in one of the most vibrant districts of the city.

Settle in and relax for the afternoon.

This evening we meet for a welcome dinner at La Mesa, one of the best restaurants in the city.

Bright, beautiful and unpretentious, La Mesa is a restaurant steeped in sustainability, with its design centered around the preservation of an existing oak tree with two charming terraces. Head Chef Alvaro Romero trained in France but returned to his native Chile to launch La Mesa back in 2019, nurturing strong relationships with hand-picked local producers for an inventive but delicious menu.

Today we uncover the rich history and culture of Santiago with a local expert guide.

We will visit the Plaza de Armas, La Moneda Presidential Palace, the cobbled streets of Lastarria, the Parque Forestal which is considered to be the "green lung" of the city.

Afterwards, we will have lunch in a typical restaurant.

The balance of the afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy. From Pablo Neruda's home, La Chascona, to the Pre-Columbian Art Museum (I highly recommend this museum), the Bellas Artes Museum, or perhaps take a cable car up to Cerro San Cristobal for a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding Andes.

This morning we join another local to guide us through the unique aspects of Chilean cuisine on culinary tour. We will visit several of Santiago's vibrant markets, including La Vega for produce grown in the Central Valley, Tirso De Molina, and Mercado Central renowned for the wide selection of seafood.

We will try local favorites at the markets including empanadas, cazuela, and seafood preparations according to your taste, fruits we don't find commonly in the US, and more.

After our market exploration, we venture into a nearby neighborhood (Lastarria or Barrio Italia) where we will have a tasting of four wines or craft beers paired with delicious local snacks, and finish with dessert.
