On this unique tour, uncover the origins of Ecuadorian chocolate through hands-on experience at a sustainable cacao farm and chocolate factory. The rare Nacional genotype of cacao grown here can be traced back 5,300 years to some of the oldest trees ever discovered.

Through conservation efforts starting in 2007, a nonprofit foundation helped revive cacao production in the Ecuadorian rainforest using only the purest Nacional genetics. The soil in this region produces cacao with a 100% Nacional genotype, yielding beans prized for exceptional quality worldwide.

Visit one of 14 partner farms in Rocafuerte practicing sustainable cultivation of this ancient crop. You'll have the unique opportunity to witness the entire chocolate-making process - from harvesting ripe cacao pods to roasting beans and crafting your artisan chocolate.

Taste what the ancient Incas and conquistadors once enjoyed as the "drink of the gods."

Optional, not included in the price per person: History leads us to a renovated building that used to store and sell cacao beans and other essential products, pillars of Manta's development. It now houses an elegant cafe, event space, and rooftop restaurant. During this visit, taste the city's emblematic dish, the Ecuadorian Ceviche.

- On the way to the Chocolate Farm (1-hour ride)

- Walk through the cocoa plantation and learn about the production, from bean to bar, a hands-on experience.

- Visit the Chocolate Factory, taste the chocolate samples,  the ancestral chocolate drink, and more.

- After this break, we will head toward Casa Rosada, a historic building downtown in Manta.

- Learn more about the regional chocolate history and taste the traditional Manta's ceviche.
