If treks are part of your lifestyle, this one is especially for you. Choquequirao was one of the last Inca shelters to be in the middle of a canyon with a depth of more than 2000 meters and the Vilcabamba mountain range with its glaciers with 5000 meters high. This tour is one of the most exciting challenges, which is why you must have special preparation before doing the next itinerary, the reward at the end of the trip will be the great satisfaction of having done it in 3 intense days of walking.

Day 1
Day 1
CUSCO – CAPULIYOC – CHIQUISCA – SANTA ROSA .

We start this tour at 3:30 am, with the pick up from your hotel, make sure you take all your equipment to the Choquequirao trek. Then we will take our tourist transport to go to Cachora in 3 hours , then we will continue 1 more hour to get Capuliyoc (3000 meters high) where we will have our breakfast, and it going to be the beginning of our hike . Here we will meet with the entire team that will accompany us on the hike (muleteers and horses), from Capuliyoc we will have the first view of the archaeological complex of Choquequirao. We will begin to descend the mountain for 2 ½ hours along a zigzag path, we will pass Cocamasana and Chiquisca 1,800 meters high. At this last point it will be our lunch to then continue our hike to the Apurimac River and cross the bridge of Playa Rosalina 1,500 meters above sea level, then we begin to climb uphill for 2 ½ hours on average until we reach Santa Rosa, our first camp.

Day 2
SANTA ROSA -MARAMPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO – MARAMPATA.

This will be a day full of adrenaline, to ascend to the Inca city of Choquequirao, after a very energetic breakfast at 6:00 a.m. We will begin our trek to Marampata (3050 masl), 3 hours up a narrow path, during our journey we will observe the dense vegetation of the tropical rainforest and the variety of orchids around the route until we reach Marampata where we will take a short break. Then we continue the 2-hour hike until we reach the archaeological site of Choquequirao, we will visit the different sectors within Choquequirao, such as the terraces of the llamas and the temples in the first part to wait for the lunch that our cook will bring to Choquequirao. In the second part we will arrive at the astronomer's house, the urban sector and the ritual platform. In the afternoon around 4 o'clock if we are lucky we can see the Andean condor flying while the sun sets in the mountains. At the end of the visit to the different sectors we will begin the walk back to Marampata .

MARAMPATA– PLAYA ROSALINAS- CHIQUISCA.

Very early we will have our breakfast, then we will continue visiting the archaeological park of Choquequirao where we will observe the sunrise and the flight of the condors. After exploring and visiting the waterfall and the water temple we will start to return to Marampata (3050 masl), place of our lunch where we will take a break, then we will continue with our 2 hour walk downhill to Rosalina beach and 40 minutes uphill. up to the village of Chiquisca our third camp.

CHIQUISCA - CAPULIYOC - CUSCO.

On this last day of the trek we will have an exquisite breakfast and then we will begin with the 4-hour trek through the mountain to the Capuliyoc pass, on the way we will be able to appreciate the Apurimac canyon again. If we are lucky we will observe Andean condors in the high parts of the mountains, in Capuliyoc we will have our last lunch of the tour, then we will take our tourist transport to return to Cusco and leave you at your respective hotel. The trip is definitively worth it. However, this company is not very serious and you should not trust it. In order to secure the sale of the tour they tell you they can do certain things and say yes to all request. For instance, I asked for a 6am hotel pick up. They said yes.. So I contracted with them and make the payment. The night before the tour they contacted me and told me pick up at the the hotel will be at 3:15am!!! I said that was not the agreement or the tour I have contracted. All they said was "we are sorry". Thereafter, they contacted me again and said pick up at 3am. The food is poor and not varied. Careful with that, is a long tour. No drinks are provided, so take your own.

Mala organización. La guía fue todo el camino durmiendo ida y vuelta sin darnos ningún tipo de explicación, parada en un puente a mitad de camino para hacer fotos y perder el tiempo. Muy pesada para hacernos fotos. Excursión con quads y la montaña de 7 colores impresionante por la tarde. Mala organización de nuevo y un timo dado que contratamos esta excursión para poder visitar además el valle rojo, la guía no nos llevó culpando al tiempo (repito sin darnos opción a elegir, perdiendo tiempo por el camino y sin explicar ABSOLUTAMENTE NADA en las 12h de excursión, solo dormía). A nuestra llegada explicamos lo ocurrido y el jefe discutió sin ni siquiera adecuar el precio de la actividad a las carencias que experimentamos. Muy buena excursión y muy recomendable pero yo la haría con otra agencia ya que en esta son unos peseteros y me he sentido timada.

The guide was very helpful and professional, fun and went the extra mile. Also I definitely recommend the journal tour with biking, rafting, ziplines, etc. It made the experience far more memorable. The hotels that we got were clean, but a bit basic, and the one in Aguas Calientes was a bit noisy. But they were acceptable overall. Some were stingy with soap and shampoo but it's ok, we just bought little shampoo packets from a nearby store for a few soles. The food was generally very good too. I would say that it ranged from excellent (the rafting company chef) to fine. If I had friends going to Peru, I would recommend this company and guide. It really was a good trip.
