Following an included breakfast, we meet our
local guide & spend the morning learning all the
interesting facts about Nashville’s history, industries
and famous people. Tour sites will include the
downtown area, the State Capitol, Centennial Park
and the Parthenon, Music Row’s Recording Studios,
the Governor’s Mansion, Vanderbilt University,
Belmont College & other points of interest. We enjoy
lunch on our own with some time to honky-tonk
downtown before our self-guided tour of the historic
Ryman Auditorium. This National Historic Landmark
& home to the Grand Old Opry is a must see for
anyone visiting Nashville! Next, we are off for
a short drive to Columbia for our Progressive
Antebellum Dinner. We begin with a tour of the
ancestral home of the 11th president of the U.S.,
James K. Polk. We will tour the home & gardens
and enjoy tasty appetizers in the courtyard. We
then depart for Elm Springs, where we enjoy a
buffet dinner in this beautiful southern mansion
build in 1838. Our last stop of the night is the
Athenaeum. We will tour the historic Athenaeum,
which is all that remains of the two famous girl
schools the flourished in the area from the 1830’s
until the Great Depression. After our tour we will
enjoy an assortment of southern desserts. After a
full day, we return to our hotel for a comfortable-
night’s stay.
