Travel to Peru, the cradle of the ancient Inca empire. You will get to know both the ancient history and the living culture of this mega-diverse country, as well as to enjoy its world-class gastronomy. With a well-balanced itinerary, this journey will be fun and enlightening.
The first destination will be Lima, the capital and largest city. With over 10 million inhabitants, this metropolis has become a global culinary mecca. Its deep history, from native civilizations to Spanish colonial rule to later influxes of African, Asian, and other European influences form the basis of an eclectic, vibrant, and growing city.
We will then fly to Cusco, high in the Southern Andes. As a way to get acclimatized to the high altitude, we will spend the first couple of nights in the Sacred Valley, a beautifully scenic area just northeast of Cusco. After a few days exploring this historic area, we will take a train ride to Machu Picchu.
After visiting Machu Picchu we will return to Cusco city, where we will stroll through the picturesque cobblestone streets and baroque temples before returning to Lima for our flight back home.
