What you can expect

Explore the historic center of Manila on a private tour, discovering important public spaces and the stone Fort Santiago. Then, venture into the narrow street of Ongpin, known as Manila's Chinatown, before covering some of the city's pre-World War II history with your friendly guide.

Get picked up from your hotel and begin your tour of Manila at Rizal Park, named for Dr. Jose Rizal, considered to be a national hero for his writings on Filipino independence. Visit the walled city of Intramuros, a remnant of the Spanish conquistadors. See the Spanish fortress of Fort Santiago and learn about its tumultuous history.

Walk along cobbled streets to San Agustin Church—the oldest stone church in the country—before visiting Casa Manila, a fascinating reproduction of 19th-century architecture. Board a horse-drawn carriage and head for Binondo and the street of Ongpin, known as Manila's Chinatown. Explore the narrow network of alleys and side streets filled with Chinese restaurants, drugstores, and residential houses.

Finally, listen as your guide brings you through history in a study of architecture. Begin at Saint Cruz Church, built-in 1608 by the Jesuit priests, before moving to Escolta, part of a British convoy route in 1762, which also served as a shopping center for Spanish and American elites. Check out 2 pre-World War II buildings, the Regina Building and the Perez-Samanillo Building, and learn about their contrasting architectural styles. Afterward, get dropped off at your hotel.
