Known as one of the most scenic trails in the Andes Mts, this challenging trek crosses over 15,090 ft / 4630 m. snow-capped Salkantay pass, then descends into warm landscapes of waterfalls and green valleys, on your way to the iconic ruins of Machu Picchu. 46mi/74k
On Day 1, our team will pick you up early on the first day after breakfast at your hotel. Then on Day 5, return to your accommodation in Cusco after a private guided tour of Machu Picchu.

5-6AM Adios guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel and begin 3 hour drive to the village of Mollepata (9515 ft/ 2900 m) where we'll stop at a local restaurant for breakfast. Continue driving to Soraypampa to unload gear. Begin hike 1.5 hours to view the turquoise waters of Lake Humantay. then return down 45 minutes to Soraypampa or continue about 2h to Salkantay pampa where you camp. After a hearty homemade breakfast prepared by our trail chef, we begin our 8 hour trek, hiking with prominent views of the Salkantay snowy peaks and Humantay Lake. Then we cross Apacheta Pass, the highest point of the trek at 15,091 ft. above sea level (4,600 meters). We descend to Qollpapampa, with a lunch stop along the way. Once at the campsite, we can relax with a soak in the local hot springs. 10,170 ft/ 3100 m
After breakfast we continue our trek descending to the warmer climate and the village of Lucmabamba During the journey, you'll have the chance to admire the undisturbed flora and fauna of semi-tropical jungle including giant hummingbirds and wild orchids. We won't even mention the assorted dramatic waterfalls or the sampling of local passion fruits and oranges. 8700 ft / 2650 m
Following breakfast, we begin hiking through coffee plantations to LLactapata, a mere 8,694 feet (2650 meters) where we'll see the the distant ancient ruins of Machupicchu. After lunch we will hike for 2 hours to the hydroelectric station, and continue to the small village of Aguas Calientes on foot (or option to take hidroelectric train 45 min. Cost not included). We can plant ourselves in our hotel for showers, then meet in a restaurant for dinner. 6560 ft/ 2000 m
6-7am. After breakfast in your hotel, the Adios tour guide will meet you and walk to the bus stop to board the shuttle bus to Machu Picchu. You enter the main gate with your tour guide to begin a 2-3 hour private tour. Get up close to real functioning fountains, walk through original Inka houses, observe religious and astrological features, and learn about the many sacred elements and mysterious carved rocks of one of the noblest ancient civilizations to inhabit the earth. After you exit, take the shuttle bus back to the village of Aguas Calientes and then return to Ollantaytambo by train. Adios driver will be waiting in Ollantaytambo to take you the final 2 hours by van to your hotel in Cusco. 7875 ft/ 2400 m
