The Pennsylvania Bar Association welcomes Members and Guests to join this exclusive professional journey through Germany—an immersive exploration of law, history, and contemporary governance set against one of Europe’s most culturally rich backdrops. Trip Organizers are pleased to share that, given the current level of interest, CLE Abroad is committed to moving forward with this program in September 2026.
Throughout the program, participants engage directly with local experts, academics, officials, and change-makers who provide in-depth perspectives on Germany’s legal and political systems, economic transformation, environmental justice, and the historical forces that continue to shape modern Europe. Along the way, guests experience Germany’s striking landscapes, renowned cultural heritage, and celebrated hospitality.
Our core four-night program in Berlin establishes the capital as our home base for deep historical and legal immersion. Participants will visit landmark sites, world-class museums, and notable legal institutions, while also enjoying Berlin’s vibrant culinary and cultural scene.
A full-day excursion to Potsdam, once home to Frederick the Great, offers a chance to explore its extraordinary palaces and architecture—symbols of Prussia’s legacy and European power politics.
From Berlin, we continue to Munich, where we spend four nights for the remainder of our journey. Long regarded as one of Europe’s great cultural capitals, Munich offers a compelling blend of historic tradition, global commerce, political influence, and modern innovation.
From our Munich base, we take a full-day excursion to Nuremberg, a city of profound legal and historical significance. Best known as the site of the post-World War II Nuremberg Trials, the city became the setting where enduring principles of international criminal law and accountability for crimes against humanity were established. Nuremberg’s transformation from a focal point of Nazi ideology into a symbol of justice and reckoning provides a powerful case study in the role of law in confronting history and shaping the modern international legal order.
