      About this trip

Climbing Chimborazo Volcano (6263 m / 20548 ft) - the world's highest mountain measured from the center of the earth - is definitely a challenging plan, therefore we recommend a good acclimatization schedule. Included in the itinerary, the Cayambe Volcano Ecuador's 3rd highest mountain and the only snow-covered spot on the equatorial line. Also part of the adventure is the summit of Iliniza Norte (5.126 m / 16,818 ft). Besides those climbs we visit either Cotopaxi National Park or Quilotoa Lagoon and climb Rucu Pichincha to get started. Definitely a trip of a lifetime - join us!

Technically the climb is not very difficult, nevertheless good fitness is required and some previous glacier travel experience highly recommended.

Another very important point is proper acclimatization. To really enjoy the climb we recommend at least 3 - 4 days of preparation, including hikes in altitude and steadily increasing your sleeping altitude if possible. In this 8 day-package acclimatization is taken care of, further you'll get to know some of the highlights of the Ecuadorian Andean region, among them Quilotoa crater lake / Cotopaxi National Park, Rucu Pichincha and Iliniza Norte.

I was looking to climb the maximum of the highest volcanoes in Ecuador, in order for training and get acclimatization for Everest. I contacted Andean Summits to organise this adventure, and they have set a perfect schedule for the time frame I have indicated. They are extremly professional and know very well all the nuances in climbing in Ecuador. Everything is possible with them, they can adapt the trip to any demands. I was very happy to climb with them. Everything was very well set. The guides are very high experience and know perfectly the mountains. The climbs are possible practically at any weather conditions. If travelling to Ecuador for climbing, I can only recomend to get in touch with Andean Summits to organise any of desired trip. Finally I have climbed all the 9 highest volcanoes of Ecuador ! What an adventure ! Thank you for that wunderful discovery and experience.

The trip we booked included acclimatization and climbing of some of Ecuador's most beautiful mountains. Although my girlfriend did not feel a hundred per cent well, I think that we really enjoyed it. Guiding was very good and the program worked out perfectly fine. It was always possible to do adaptions and get in contact with guides and Elisabeth. We have a few mountains left and will for sure return :).
