Charleston is one of those cities that asks you to slow down before you even realize you’ve agreed.
It lives in the brick sidewalks, the gas lanterns, the quiet courtyards, the church bells, the harbor breeze, and the live oaks — all working together to soften the pace and pull you into a story much older than your own.
Coastal Lowcountry Magic is a 6-day women’s urban adventure designed to blend Charleston’s historic beauty, Lowcountry culture, coastal light, and deeply rooted traditions into one easy, thoughtful experience. We’ll walk the historic streets with local insight, ride through the city by carriage, explore the layered history of Boone Hall, spend time with Gullah Geechee sweetgrass tradition, and give ourselves space to wander museums, shops, cafés, galleries, and the waterfront at a pace that feels human.
This trip is not built around rushing from one landmark to the next. It’s built around texture: the sound of carriage wheels on old streets, the scent of she-crab soup and fresh biscuits, the quiet of a churchyard after dark, the glow of Charleston Harbor from the water, and the simple joy of sharing beautiful meals with women who came ready to say yes to something lovely.
November is a beautiful time to experience Charleston. The thick heat of summer has faded, the city begins to lean toward the holidays, and evenings feel just cool enough for a sweater, a lantern walk, or one more unhurried stroll past glowing windows. We’ll balance structured experiences with open time, so the city has room to surprise us — because some of Charleston’s best moments happen when you turn the corner without a plan.
Expect historic homes, coastal air, meaningful cultural context, wonderful food, and the kind of small-group connection that makes travel feel less like a checklist and more like a shared memory in the making.
This trip is built for easy to moderate city walking with flexible pacing. Expect historic sidewalks, uneven brick, occasional cobblestones, stairs, carriage steps, museum walking, beach walking, and relaxed city wandering. Most days include walking, but the pace is intentionally flexible with breaks, café time, and optional downtime built in.
Please pack with layers and comfortable walking shoes in mind — mid-November in Charleston is typically mild, but harbor evenings and beach mornings can feel cooler and breezy. A light jacket, small day bag, comfortable shoes, and a city-walk mindset will make the trip easier and more enjoyable. Christine will send packing suggestions in the months and weeks leading up to the trip.

Trip services officially begin with group arrivals at Charleston International Airport, where transportation will be coordinated based on guest arrival times. Please plan to arrive by 5:00 PM if possible, so we can transfer to Hotel Bella Grace, settle in, and let the travel day loosen its grip a little.
For guests arriving earlier, Christine’s room or suite may serve as a simple home base for snacks, bags, quick resets, and a place to breathe before the evening begins. If timing allows, we’ll take an easy first walk through the nearby historic district — just enough to feel the brick underfoot and begin easing into Charleston’s rhythm.
Tonight we gather for our welcome dinner at 82 Queen, a classic Charleston setting with courtyard charm, Lowcountry flavor, and the kind of first-night atmosphere that helps the table feel warm right away.
After dinner, we’ll return to the hotel for a gentle orientation and a simple walkthrough of the week ahead.
After breakfast and coffee, we’ll begin our Charleston exploration with a walking tour through the historic district. This is our stitch-it-together morning — the kind of experience that helps the homes, churches, gates, gardens, and old streets become more than scenery.
We’ll move with enough time to pause, listen, and look up, letting the city unfold through local insight and layered storytelling.
Lunch is on your own today, giving you room to follow your appetite toward a cozy café, biscuit stop, seafood counter, or something sweet and simple.
In the afternoon, we’ll experience Charleston by carriage, letting the city slow down in a different way as our assigned route leads us through whichever historic corners Charleston gives us that day.
Tonight we’ll gather for dinner at Slightly North of Broad, with the optional ghost and graveyard tour available afterward for guests who want one more lantern-lit layer of Charleston after dark.
After breakfast, we’ll leave downtown Charleston for a day rooted in Lowcountry landscape, history, and living tradition.
We’ll begin at Boone Hall Plantation, where the oak-lined entrance offers one of those unmistakable Southern landscape moments — beautiful, cinematic, and deeply layered. We’ll move through the grounds and exhibits with a thoughtful pace, taking in both the visual beauty and the harder histories connected to the land.
From there, we’ll continue to a relaxed Lowcountry lunch in Mount Pleasant, the kind of comforting, casual meal that fits the day without needing to be fancy.
In the afternoon, we’ll take part in a Gullah/sweetgrass cultural workshop or demonstration*, pending final artisan confirmation, designed to honor one of the Lowcountry’s most meaningful living traditions.
After a full day of history, culture, and connection, we’ll return to Hotel Bella Grace for a real reset before an intentionally easy evening with a walkable informal included dinner option.
*Note: The Gullah/sweetgrass cultural workshop is pending final artisan confirmation. If needed, Christine will coordinate the best available equivalent experience to preserve the intention and quality of the day.
This morning is yours to shape with two included Charleston museum or historic site visits.
Guests may choose in advance from options such as the International African American Museum, Aiken-Rhett House, Nathaniel Russell House, the Gibbes Museum of Art, The Charleston Museum, or one of Charleston’s historic house museums. This day is designed to let your own curiosity lead, whether you’re drawn toward cultural history, architecture, art, historic homes, or a broader Charleston overview.
Lunch is on your own today, giving you space to enjoy a café near your museum, a light seafood lunch, a bakery stop, or something quick between galleries and shops.
The afternoon remains open and flexible for the City Market, King Street, the French Quarter, Waterfront Park, hotel rest, or lingering a little longer wherever Charleston catches your attention.
Later today, we’ll gather for our harbor dinner cruise, letting the water, skyline, Fort Sumter views, Ravenel Bridge, and soft evening light carry us into a slower coastal exhale together.
This morning we leave the historic district for Sullivan’s Island, a quiet barrier island where Charleston’s coastal beauty meets centuries of layered history.
We’ll begin at Fort Moultrie, where harbor defense stories stretch from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War and later military eras, giving us a wider understanding of Charleston’s place along the Atlantic.
Afterward, we’ll pause near the Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse area and make time for a peaceful beach walk, letting the sea air and wide shoreline offer a refreshing contrast to the city’s brick sidewalks and cobblestone streets.
Lunch will be casual and coastal at Poe’s Tavern, a relaxed island favorite with an Edgar Allan Poe connection and easy beach-town energy.
After lunch, there will be time for a little unstructured island wandering — browse nearby shops, linger over coffee, visit a small gallery, or take one more walk along the sand before returning to Charleston.
Tonight we gather for our farewell dinner at Magnolias, a polished and warm final table where we can share favorite moments, laugh about the week, and let the Lowcountry settle into memory.
This morning is gentle and simple, with coffee, breakfast/snack support, packing time, and space for slow goodbyes before departure.
Guests with earlier flights will be supported with transportation coordination as needed, while guests with later departures may have time for one final stroll, coffee stop, or last look at Charleston’s historic streets.
Hotel checkout timing will be confirmed closer to travel, but guests should plan to be packed and ready by late morning.
Trip services conclude at 12:00 PM today, with airport transportation coordination based on final flight times and departure plans.
We’ll leave Charleston carrying the glow of harbor light, the texture of brick and sweetgrass, and the memory of a city that somehow feels both elegant and deeply human.
