Day 1

Arriving at the Cuyabeno Bridge

 After traveling by bus directly to the Cuyabeno Bridge, we will transfer by motorized canoe to our Lodge for breakfast and rest, after lunch we will take a short acclimatization hike along the Ceibos trail. On the way back we will get our tents and other logistics ready for our canoe trip. We will continue on our journey until we reach the Laguna Grande; It is the natural habitat of several species of animals, such as pink and gray dolphins, river turtles, and the elusive anaconda. And we will continue our journey through the Cuyabeno, until we reach the Siona community in Puerto Bolívar where we will camp.

Community Visit

 After breakfast and packing our camp, in the Siona community we will be able to see their customs and experience their way of making food, assisting in the making of cassava bread or cassava. We will continue traveling downstream you will see the union of the two rivers Cuyabeno and Aguarico. After crossing this point, we will look for a perfect place to camp and spend the night during our jungle adventure.

Zancudo Cocha

 (Optional: Requests for morning birding hikes are welcome.) After breakfast, we will get into our canoe, enjoying beautiful flora and fauna, an indigenous community that will host us for lunch. In addition, there you will be able to admire the customs, way of life and different handicrafts offered by this community. We'll continue on our journey until we reach Zancudococha. We will find a suitable place to have dinner and rest. 

Day 4

Cocaya

After a delicious breakfast, we will continue our journey, passing through different military checkpoints on the Aguarico River. Upon arriving at the border of Peru and Ecuador, we will sail down the Aguarico River until we reach the Cocaya River in search of pinks, birds, primates, caimans and more fragile species of the Amazon River region such as the manatee. We will set up camp to spend the night in the Amazon jungle on the border of Ecuador, where we will have dinner and rest.

Yaku Warmi

  

Very early in the morning after breakfast, we will take a short walk through the jungle to observe birds and primates, we will also visit the parrot licks, a unique place where parrots and parakeets of different species come from far away to ingest clay, a vital element in their diet. Then in a community called Yaku Warmi we will have lunch, and then in the Yaku Warmi Lagoon feed the pink ones, live with the community and the nature that surrounds us, at the end of the day we will camp again in Cocaya where we will have dinner and rest.

Río Sábalo

After breakfast very early in the morning, we will pack our camp and then continue with our journey to Sábalo where we will have lunch, here we can enjoy the refreshing waters of the Sábalo River and look for a place to practice piranha fishing. After dinner we will look for alligators in the canoe with the weather conditions, river level and other factors according to the guide, if allowed, and finally we will have dinner and camp.

Aguas Negras

Breakfast, then we will go through the Cuyabeno River until we reach Aguas Negras; A beautiful black water river that has an abundance of exotic and unique birds that could not be observed anywhere in the world. We will enjoy some fantastic jungle hikes and get to learn about this unique ecosystem with the help of our guide. We will spend the night in Aguas Negras.

Arrival at Cuyabeno River Lodge

On the last day, we will have an early breakfast and return to Cuyabeno River Lodge by motor canoe. Hopefully we'll be able to see something we didn't get on our trip to the interior of the Reserve. Upon arrival at the Lodge, we will have lunch, rest for a moment and at 18:00 pm, we will go to the Cuyabeno Bridge to take the bus back to Quito at 18:30 pm.
