Diving at Coiba means diving the National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) what does not only consist of the island of Coiba but also other beautiful smaller islands, most of them offer also virgin white sand beaches.
It will take our fast boats between 50 minutes to 1:20 hours to reach our first dive site, where after a site briefing and buddy check you will dive into the Coiba wonderworld for up to ONE hour (depending on your air consumption and allowed no decompression time).
The standard day tour consists of two dives on two dive sites chosen accordingly to the interests and experience levels of the group and environmental conditions. All dives are guided by our experienced and certified PADI instructors or dive masters. An additional third dive can be booked usually directly on the day of the trip (conditions permitting). In between the dives you have time to relax on pristine beaches go for snorkeling or a short hike.
“Think of the number of fish you have seen elsewhere and double it. Think about the size of the fish you have seen and double that as well. That sums up the promise of diving… Coiba” (this is how the UK DIVER magazine describes it)
You will see a variety of life on all sites: reef sharks are common on all sites, turtles, schools of jacks, snappers, barracudas can be seen frequently the year around and there is, of course, the whole range of tropical reef life. Whales, whale sharks, mantas and devil rays can be seen at certain times. We do not like to rush our guests, therefore our dives last up to 60 minutes if air consumption and No Decompression limit allows for it, so doing 2 dives with Scuba Coiba gives you almost the same under water time as three dives with some other operators.
We ask our divers to test their equipment at our dive center before leaving Santa Catalina beach between 8:00 and 8:30, so you should be here the afternoon before ill 6:30 or in the morning between 7:30 and 7:45. After a general briefing, we take a boat ride of 1 to 1:30 hours to our first dive site, where you will receive the briefing of the site and any special procedures for it. After a maximal dive time of an hour, we will have a break on one of Coiba’s beaches to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, some beaches offer also excellent snorkeling, or possibilities to see monkeys, birds, butterflies or crocodiles. We will also offer you a packed, called lunch with this break.
