About this trip

Our Fall escape to witness the beautiful color of the Blue Ridge Mountains begins as we travel to Historic Dahlonega, Georgia. We will start our day with a family-style lunch at the historic Smith House, which has been serving delicious, family-style country cooking for 100 years. As the legend goes, original owner Captain Hall literally struck gold as he broke ground on his home. Today, the mine shaft opening in the basement of the Smith House is the centerpiece of an exhibit that digs deep into the history of Dahlonega at the Smith House. Following lunch, we travel to the Dahlonega Gold Museum. Here, we will view massive gold nuggets, mine maps and equipment, and learn how in 1849, Dahlonega became the site of the country's first gold rush. After our tour, you will have plenty of free time on your own in downtown Dahlonega. After dinner on your own, at any of the restaurants in Dahlonega, we will get a good night's sleep at a local hotel before continuing our trip.

Following breakfast on day two, we will head to the town of Blue Ridge, Georgia to hop on the scenic Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Southern Living Magazine recently classified the train ride as one of the top five attractions for experiencing fall color. The train snakes through the Chattahoochee National Forest along the beautiful Toccoa River to the mountain town of McCaysville. Here, we enjoy a wonderful lunch nestled in the mountains and free time along Main Street before we board the coach and head back home!

Amazing trip. I purchased this trip for my husband and was not very excited about it. Boy, was I ever wrong. We had a great time. The bus trip was fun with some trivia BMW games on the bus. We had time to explore Greenville and were given maps and restaurant suggestions. Then the most amazing time in the visitor center and the actual tour of part of the BMW plant. It was well planned, clear instructions, comfortable traveling, and a conscientious tour guide with Mark. One suggestion - I would have appreciated a historical/architectural tour of downtown Greenville instead of the "shopping time." Would have been willing to pay extra for that.

A well-planned and executed trip. Complete and clear instructions before the trip and these were repeated again throughout the day. Different options for your free time and activity level were offered. Any problems that occurred were quickly taken care of by our guide. Our guide kept careful track of us and also gave us his cell phone number in case we were separated from the group. Personal attention was given to those who needed it. The food was great, the soccer game was thrilling, and we were very impressed with APlus Tours. We understand why it is called APlus. Only one suggestion - we would have appreciated a short talk on what we were going to see - ie the history and design of the Mercedes Benz Stadium and the current standing of the soccer team United and its key players.

The trip was fabulous. It was an easy, smooth ride on the bus and the lunch and beverages were excellent. Wish we would have known more soccer rules. Beautiful stadium!
