Upon arrival you will be taken to your hotel, have a time to rest before we gather for a special Orientation Meeting. You will have the opportunity to exchange money, Take the time to chill and recover for your journey.. Following a lovely dinner at the hotel, we will turn in early to prepare for the next day! ACCRA CITY TOUR
It’s all about taking in the city on an eye-opening tour-- stopping at sites such as the Nkrumah Mausoleum, the historical James Town, The National Museum, Black Star Square, and the famous W.E.B. DuBois Center. Stopping for lunch. Then off to the renowned Art Center, a world filled with art, crafts and the experience of bartering!

REVISITING YOUR HISTORY- CAPE COAST
Enjoying the sights on the way to Cape Coast is where the journey to rediscovery begins.

We will go back in time to the origins of the slave trade by visiting two of the most famous slave dungeons Elmina Castle by day and Cape Coast castle at night for a special ceremony (please wear white) and paying tribute to the ancestors.

A DAY OF REDISCOVERY
Get up early to see the rising of the sun and the fishermen bringing in their nets laden with the fruit of the ocean. Then off to Assin Manso where the slaves took their last bath before being sent to the dungeons. Stop for lunch. Take a walk through Kakum Forest and take a walk on their suspended bridges high above the forest floor. Spend the afternoon at the beach.

The highlight of the day is a special Naming Ceremony, where you will receive your Ghanaian name!

It promises to be an unforgettable day.

The tour coordinators delivered everything their brochure promised, and much more. All staff and assistants were knowledgeable, extremely courteous, and beyond kind. Their attention to detail was particularly noteworthy; we wanted for nothing. The accommodations were excellent, transportation timely and efficient, and the sites we visited were life-inspiring. The itinerary was sufficiently flexible and well-planned to easily allow for real-time changes due to unpredictables such as weather. The ability of the MMH coordinators to accommodate the individual needs, desires, and personalities of everyone within our travel group, while maintaining a truly enjoyable time for all, cannot be over exaggerated! An Unforgettable Journey Home – Accra, Ghana with Michelle Words truly fall short in capturing how life-changing this experience was for me. Traveling with Come Home with Michelle felt less like a vacation and more like a powerful homecoming a family reunion with relatives you hadn’t met yet, but who were waiting for you with open arms. A huge thank you to our amazing travel host, Michelle, whose care and planning made every step feel intentional and deeply personal. Special thanks as well to our phenomenal guides, Chief Kelvin and Joel, who not only ensured we saw the best of Ghana but also beautifully documented the journey, capturing each moment with heart. The historical tours felt like stepping into the most captivating classroom you’ve ever been in one you never wanted to leave. Every location held deep meaning and powerful stories.
