One hour walk to the Medieval Castle with a beautiful view over the hilly landscape of Tuscany. The little walled village of Gargonza is perched atop a hill overlooking Valdichiana (Chiana valley) and is possible to get there by walking directly from Maraviglia! The Castle of Gargonza is a magnificent archetype of a fortified Tuscan agricultural hamlet, with its tower/keep, considerable remaining walls, 13th century gate, 14th century Roman Church complete with bell tower and mullioned windows, and narrow alleys lined with medieval houses. This Castle is one of the most well-preserved fortified complexes in the territory. Once we get there we will have a tour of the village with a fantastic panoramic view and we will have the option to enjoy a snack at the bar inside the Medieval walls.
Join us on this 2 hour walk where we will explore and take in the smells and the marvelous landscapes that surround us. Our host Francesco will share all the anecdotes, history and geography of this warm, beautiful land where he grew up. During our Nature Walk we will explore the hills around Maraviglia and walk by some beautiful ancient villa ruins and a marvelous beehive on the top of the hill..
The very name Maraviglia comes form old italian and means: a place or person that causes amazement, marvel, wonder for its exceptionality, unpredictability or beauty. It will be this very beauty that we will be walking through and taking in... understanding why the old pilgrims and travelers decided to give our hill the name of “Podere Maraviglia”!

Informed by the wisdom of ancient traditions, Nina moves her students through intentional asana, pranayama and meditation, always recalling the spirit of playfulness within such wisdom and a childlike sense of curiosity.
