Spend 5 days in one of our favorite places on the planet doing our favorite thing, Jiu Jitsu! Tamarindo, Costa Rica is a vibrant tropical paradise boasting beautiful beaches, fantastic surfing, an abundance of wildlife, breath-taking landscapes, excellent cuisine, fun boutique shopping and more.  Join Grappling Getaways as we train at the Hero Academy in Tamarindo, Our training will benefit local children by enabling them to train through our contributions.  

Our Costa Rica camp is now available to both men and women.  The instruction provided at this camp is from World renowned Brown & Black Belt Females including April Parks, Katie Hooven, Elisabeth Clay & Svenja Juffernbruch.  Additional Instructors TBA.  The itinerary will be inclusive of daily activities, excursions and training schedule.  We encourage people to participate in what they would like to, but feel no pressure to do all or any of the excursions and group activities.  Ultimately, this is your vacation, if staying at our beautiful accommodations to read a book or laying on a beach all day sipping Pina Coladas is your thing, then you do you! We support the autonomy of our campers.

June 1 - no refund but 25% credit to be used at a camp of your choice. 

Please schedule your flights for the following suggested ARRIVAL and DEPARTING flights into and out of Liberia Airport (LIR) , Costa Rica. 

Tamarindo is approximately 1 hour from Liberia Airport. 

Arrival Flights: Please arrive between the times of 10:00 A.M. - 1:20 PM on Monday, July 25th.  Final departure from the airport will be at 1:30 PM sharp.  You may arrive before this time, yet may have a lengthy wait.  We will pick up based off of the flight information that you provide to us.  Please keep in constant communication with us once on the ground in CR.  Once all flights are booked, you will communicate this to us via email. 

Departure Flights: Please schedule your departing flight back to the U.S. in between the hours of 1:30 P.M.  - 5:00 P.M. on Friday, July 29th. Final departure from the AIR BNB will be at approximately 10:45 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. depending on the earliest flights booked.  In the event that you book earlier than these suggested times, you will have to arrange your own transport to the airport.  We do understand that you may find yourself waiting at the airport for some time.  if at all possible we will try to arrange for two separate shuttle trips the airport.  

In the event that you plan to stay an extra day, we can assist with accommodations and travel details to return home.  Again, please let us know as soon as possible if you are considering this.  There may be a few instructors staying an extra day.

*** ANY flights arriving, even if by fault of the airline, weather conditions, changes in travel advisories, or personal unforeseen circumstances will be defaulted to the individual providing their own transportation to camp.  

What to expect: 

Luxurious Accommodations close to everything.  Large shared living spaces where the campers can mingle, relax, share, get to know one another and ultimately utilize for whatever their hearts desire.  We will have coffee prepared around the clock and do our best to provide some light snacks.  

Beds & Rooms: As this is very much a camp experience we want to make sure that you understand that you will MOST likely be sharing a room with other women/men.  In some instances just 1 other camper, in other instances up to 6.  We obviously do not mix men and women in the same rooms unless spouses, siblings or otherwise related.  Please note, we do have campers share Queen and King beds to maximize camp space.  If you prefer to share with someone you know please inform us.  Also, if this is just not an option for you, you may reserve your own room for an additional cost under add-ons. 

All campers will arrive at Liberia Airport at the designated times shared. Campers will be transported  to the luxury Airbnb to settle in, receive welcome baskets and participate in some ice breaker activities to get to know the other campers.  Training times will be announced when the finalized itinerary is complete.  This will be a day to explore the town, beaches, local spa and perhaps some boutique shopping! 

Wake up to a beautiful sunrise in our exquisite home with the sound of Howler Monkeys in the distance.  Share a cup of coffee with a new, or old friend, walk on the beach or enjoy some morning yoga.  In between our training we will be partaking in an ATV Tour that visits various local beaches for an opportunity to view the various colored sands, wildlife and culture of this heaven on earth location.  Evening group dinner and a nice fire will end the evening. 

By now you are feeling like a local! Maybe you have been enjoying acai bowls, bike rides along the beach or just casually strolling through the town.  Its easy to lose track of time when you are living Pura Vida.  Outside of training today, the group will participate in horseback riding on the beach.  The scenery is dreamy and the photos generated are sure to be cherished for a lifetime.  

Today is the day we take to the water to tackle the waves! Tamarindo is world famous for its exceptional surf instruction.  If you have never surfed this is the time to learn.  If you have attempted to surf, this is the time to actually catch some waves with the help of our top level instructors.  Enjoy your final days at our home soaking in  the pool or sunbathing in the Costa Rican sun.  We will attend a BBQ as a team this evening and try some local desserts. Again, training is every day, our excursions are worked in around the training schedule. 

We will enjoy our last morning and training session together before packing up, saying our tearful goodbyes and headed off to the airport to get everyone back home safe.  This day is designed for you to do whatever you like with the remaining time you have left.
