About this trip

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” Anne Lamott

We all need to unplug to clear our minds, reset our bodies and lower our stress levels. This retreat will give you the space, guidance and opportunity to do that. With 2 yoga classes a day, hiking and optional horseback riding, you’ll have the opportunity to unwind, restore and reset. Yogis and riders of all levels are welcome.

The location for our retreat is the highly rated and beautiful ranch in Southern Arizona, Rancho de la Osa, in Sasabee Arizona. Rich with history of the old west and miles of serene open space to explore, the ranch provides us with the space to disconnect for a few days. Everything you need is at the ranch, so once you arrive, you can stay and not leave until check out time!

Yoga and Horseback Riding

Enjoy the sunshine, clean desert southwest air as you retreat from city life and tuck into life on the historic and beautiful Rancho de la Osa in Sasabe Arizona. The moment you drive through the ranch gates, you can feel the magic of the ranch as you begin to unwind, breath deep and begin to decompress.

Begin your day with a meditation practice, followed by a Vinyasa flow yoga class. Refreshed, awake and ready for the day, find your way to the community dining room and enjoy breakfast with your yoga retreat community as well as other guests on the ranch.

Explore the hundreds of undisturbed acres on the ranch on horseback, ATV tour or simply wandering around on foot.

After you've worked up your appetite, convene again in the dining room another delicious meal, home cooked by the ranch chef. Please let Michele know ahead of time if you have food restrictions and the chef will plan accordingly.

Afternoons are for siestas! Head back to your room, or find a cozy spot on the ranch, and experience what many of us in the Southwest know - siestas are refreshing and a great way to restore our energy for the rest of the day.

Refreshed from your siesta, you can spend the rest of the afternoon creating something in my Pop Up Art Studio, hiking, riding, swimming in the ranch's pool, reading or pursuing whatever endeavor nourishes you.

Join your community back in the dining room for dinner, with a roaring fire in the dining room's fire place and another opportunity to meet new friends and get to know your yoga community better.

After dinner, we will either join the ranch's activity (maybe roasting S'more by the bonfire and listening to Ross, local Cowboy Poet) or meet in the Cantina for a restorative yoga class. Feeling completely relaxed from your day and restorative yoga, you'll retire to your room where you can fall asleep by a fire in your fireplace.

Horseback Riding: If you are a beginning rider, or have years of experience on the saddle, you’ll be in good hands with Lynne Knox, the horse wrangler on the ranch. Lynne grew up on horseback and has taught riding to hundreds of people! You’ll find her gentle nature and exceptional horse sense inspiring as you connect with both yourself and the horse.

Yoga: if you are new to yoga or an experienced Yogi, you will benefit from the yoga classes. Michele teaches a gentle Vinyasa flow class and adapts depending on the experience level of the participants.

Grab your yoga mat, your cowboy hat and boots and come on down!

Reviews

This was a well organized, well planned, and very educational trip! I was able to photograph 10 species of hummingbirds and I learned a lot in the process. Not only did I learn multiple photography methods for capturing stunning images of these majestic little creatures but I also learned how to identify the various species and the differences between the male, female and juvenile of the different species. I was also able to use equipment that I don't currently have and see if I think it would be beneficial to purchase in the future. Overall this trip was a major success for me. I took home thousands of beautiful images that I can be proud of. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in hummingbird photography!
