About this trip

Together we will explore Antigua, Guatemala, and a few of the villages that surround Lake Atitlán. We are calling all other kindred spirits who don’t like small talk, want more authentic connections and who are looking for adventure (stretching your comfort zone), self-care (slowing down & being present), and clearing space (soul searching & planting seeds of possibility). If you have a yearning to connect with other women, discover a better version of your life, and dig deeper to uncover who you are, then join us in November 2020.

When we unplug from the person that we are day-to-day, it gives us an opportunity to access our authentic self easier. The activities that are planned have been hand selected to help us to be present and keep us in the creative energy. We are joining the creative space of different artisans and borrowing the energy of their creativity and joy in life.

Ground in a new way of being for yourself and a new possibility.

The true beauty of Guatemala lies in its people as it is a country brimming with tradition and a sense of pride beaming from the locals. With strong influences from the Mayan culture and Spanish Colonialism, Guatemala is an eclectic mix of cultures and this is reflected across the country.

Our week together is the space to let go and connect to the flow as the agenda has been created to give you space to rest, explore and discover a new lens for life.

YOUR GUIDES

We (Bobbi Carpino & Shauna Harper) are creative kindred spirits whose paths crossed in 2009. Together as friends, entrepreneurs, and creatives, we are constantly growing and learning more ways to be present, welcome joy, nurture creativity, and stay curious about the edges that push us in life. We are drawn to digging deeper and holding space for people, and stories that move, connect and light us up.

In 2020, with some of my most favourite creative and spiritually connected friends, we want to invite you to join us as we hold the space for what is possible in our own lives, while we experience the beauty of Guatemala together.

There is an energy and spirit to Guatemala of resiliency, joy, and creativity.

HOTEL

5 NIGHTS HOTEL IN ANTIGUA - Located on a quiet cobblestone street in the heart of Antigua, Guatemala, our premium hotel is a hidden gem that has been hand selected to connect us to the spirit of possibility. Imagine a former private mansion, minimalistic design infused with local touches, personalized service and a social business model in the heart of UNESCO-protected Antigua, Guatemala. Welcome to the Good Hotel. The Good Hotel connects you with Antigua while at the same time offering a premium hotel experience, and the opportunity to give something back to the local community whilst travelling.

1 NIGHT HOTEL IN LAKE ATITLAN - Eco-hotel Uxlabil Atitlán is a hotel located along the lake on the mountainside between San Juan La Laguna and San Pedro La Laguna. It is a quiet retreat with an amazing view of Lake Atitlán and Cerro del Rostro Maya (Indian Nose Mountain). The hotel has four floors where you can spend time in hammocks overlooking the lake while enjoying the breeze that comes off the water. The traditional town of San Juan La Laguna is famous for its artists and murals that can be admired all over town, and San Pedro La Laguna is a little bit more touristy and is known for its Spanish language schools and restaurants. All rooms of eco-hotel Uxlabil Atitlán are named after birds that can be seen in Atitlán.

IMPACT TOURISM

We can have an even greater impact on the world in a positive way, by making good choices while traveling. Sustainable vacations also go hand-in-hand with community-based tourism. For this reason, everything in the Ground Retreat in November, 2020 has been hand-selected and curated to ensure that we are making an impact and that we have the deepest connections and experience possible. From the hotels we have chosen, to the local guides that we have hired, and the artisan cooperatives we visit, we want to make sure that we are traveling in a way that gives back to the communities we are visiting.

Your travel with our Ground Retreats continues to make an impact in the world long after you are home. Together as a group, we will be sponsoring a child for 1 year at Niños de Guatemala.
