This is a point-to-point bouldering expedition across Oman, run with local climbers who know the rock and the country behind it. It begins and ends in Muscat and works its way through the Al Hajar mountains and down to the coast; climbing, scrambling, swimming and camping along the way.

The heart of the trip is three days deep in the Valley of the Giants, a remote pocket of the Eastern Hajar named for its four-hundred-metre cliffs and house-sized boulders. Roughly five hours from the nearest town, it holds more than seventy established problems from V0 to V9, with natural rock pools to drop into between climbs. You camp two nights in the valley itself, with a chef cooking over the fire.

From there the route moves through wadis and old mountain villages - a full day's hike, scramble and swim through Wadi Hawer, dinner with a local family, the dunes and sandboarding at Biddiyah - before finishing on the coast with a day of deep water soloing straight off the boats in Muscat.

Bouldering here isn't about grades. The problems span V0 to V9, so complete beginners and seasoned climbers find their level on the same boulders, and the days are shaped around the group rather than a clock. You don't need prior climbing experience - only a willingness to camp, scramble and get into the water.

▪️Dining: A mix of campfire meals out in the valley, local restaurants on the road, and one dinner in the home of a family in the village of Hawer. All meals and bottled water are included;

allergies and dietary needs are no problem.

▪️Who this is for: Anyone drawn to a genuinely remote, off-grid side of Oman - climbers and non-climbers alike - who'd rather camp under the cliffs than sit by a pool. It's an expedition, not a resort: the landscapes and the rich Omani culture is the point.

Built around exploring the bouldering potential of Oman, our expedition includes some of the most exciting and remote locations in the Sultanate. With problems to satisfy all levels of climbers, the trip is open to anyone who wishes to understand a unique side of Oman and its rich culture.

Day 1 - Muscat

Arrive Seeb Int. Airport (Oman air flight) 

• Optional pickup from airport (included in price)

• Sleep first night in Muscat

• Recover from travel: Relax, eat, sleep

1st night

Day 2 - Muscat

No alarms in morning (jetlag reset) & Brunch at 11am.

Mini bus to afternoon activity starting location within Muscat / old town for 1pm

• Walk / scramble / swim (3 hours)

• Once completed, go back to accommodation shower and get ready for an early dinner / briefing of the trip 

• Sleep / personal time for jet lag and travel recovery 

2nd night

Day 3 - Valley of the Giants

• Leaving mid-morning (9-10 am) from Muscat 

• Drive down the coast towards Bimmah Sinkhole (1.5 - 2 hours)

• Arriving around 11:30 am - 12:00 pm, enjoy sinkhole for a swim / climb / picnic 

• Once completed, leave around 1:00 pm to continue journey into the mountains towards Umq Beer / Valley of the Giants

• Road is 50 km (rough terrain) in approx 2.5 hours

• Once arrived, enjoy climbing and settle into camp

3rd night

Day 4 - Valley of the Giants

Exploring over 70 set boulder problems within the Valley of the Giants (VoG)

• All day climbing within the Valley, with problems ranging from V0 to V9

• Swimming in the Wadis natural rock pools

• Food to be supplied through a chef during this time 

• Camping in the valley

4th night 

Day 5 - Valley of the Giants

Leave late-morning / mid day 12:00 pm from VoG to Sur and then Wadi Hawer

• Climb most part of the morning 

• Leave Umq Beer (Vo) to arrive in Sur for late lunch at Zaki restaurant 

  • Drive is approx 2.5 hours to 4 hours

• Once in Sur, enjoy a tea and the coastal scenery of the late afternoon after Zaki restaurant 

• As sun starts to set make way to Wadi Hawer 

  • Drive is around 1.5 hours

• Arriving at our hotel in Wadi Hawer as darkness sets in

  
  5th night

Day 6 - Wadi Hawer

Spend full day in Wadi Hawer 

• Wake up to complete the total Wadi Hawer hike to Sayq

  • 8 hour hike / scramble / climb / swim 

• Finish hike and go to have a local dinner with a local family in the village of Hawer 

• Sleep in the same hotel as the night before 

6th night 

Day 7 - Biddiyah

Leave midday 2 pm onwards towards Biddiyah 

• Morning spent exploring the nearby Wadis opportunities for deep water soloing & bouldering

• Head towards Biddiyah to watch the sunset in the dunes & enjoy some sandboarding

  • This drive is around 45 mins - 1 hour 

• Post sunset in dunes drive to hotel in Biddiyah

  • 1 hour drive

7th night

Day 8 - Ibra & Muscat

Spend morning in Ibra and the afternoon in Wadi Sa’al and then evening in Qurum 

• Enjoy Ibra in the Old Town inc. breakfast on a farm

• Leave Ibra around 10 am towards Muscat 

  • Drive is around 1 hour and 30 mins

• Picnic lunch at beach in Muscat

• Afternoon spent deep water soloing in Muscat

• Final dinner at Ramssa 

• Evenings flights are possible post final dinner

8th night 

Day 9 - Muscat

Breakfast together in Muscat.

Conclusion of trip.
