About this trip

This women's wellness retreat was lovingly created to deepen your awareness of self love and empowerment while fostering a sense of play, growth, healing and adventure! Cultivating Self Love is a Self Mastery International retreat featuring transformational experiences designed to nourish the body, stimulate the mind and soothe the soul.

We have partnered with Sumak Travel to design a journey through some of Costa Rica's top destinations to experience a great mix of adventure, wildlife, nature, relaxation, education, healing and renewal. You will visit natural wonders and unique ecosystems in the magnificent Nicoya Peninsula, one of the five Blue Zones of the world (Blue Zones are places where people live more than 100 years on average, due to the combination of healthy lifestyle, nutrition, socialization and rich ecosystems).

After getting a glimpse of San José, we will fly to Montezuma, located in the south east of the Nicoya Peninsula, where we will stay at the beautiful Ylang Ylang Beach Resort. Then we will make a short journey from Montezuma to Manzanillo, on the opposite side of the Nicoya Peninsula, where we will stay at the lovely Kaya Bloom Ecolodge, a regenerative tourism initiative with spirituality and conservation at the heart of their mission.

This 8-day wellness retreat features yoga, meditation, transformational workshops and other healing activities to enlighten your soul. Come forge new connections with other likeminded women and create lifelong bonds that deepen over time!

This retreat is now fully booked. If you are interested in our retreats in Guatemala and Peru in 2022, please make sure you subscribe to our newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/ea9eae5d39da/sumak-travel-newsletter

Testimonials from past retreat participants

“I attended the Sacred Soul Journey retreat in Tulum, Mexico, in 2018 hosted by Dr. Peggy Farmer and Kelli Reese. This was a life changing event for me. What Peggy brought to the retreat was her whole self, including her clinical experience as well as her many other skills and abilities. Her expertise is holding a safe, sacred, loving space for those in her care to heal. It was with grace, tenderness, and compassion that she led our group of women in a journey to ourselves. She leads from a perspective of non judgement and unconditional love. The tools that she taught us during this retreat were  transformational and I still use them to this day! I am so thankful for our interactions and teachings that she provided for us during the Sacred Soul Journey and I highly recommend her to any woman wanting to have a meaningful and conscious life.”

Jill from Arizona

“Spending any amount of time with Dr. Peggy Farmer leaves you utterly transformed! Her ancient wisdom, deep connection with the spiritual realms and her amazing spirit will have you feeling so much love and joy and will leave you with a much deeper sense of yourself and your unique gifts! Do not pass up this rare opportunity to be coached and guided by this special soul. It will be an adventure you will never forget!”

Zahra from Miami

Welcome to Costa Rica! (-/-/D)

Flight to San José (please aim to arrive before 6:00 p.m). An English-speaking guide will welcome you at the airport and drive you to the well-located Hotel Auténtico near Sabana Park in San José. Along the way, our guide will give you all the tips and recommendations to get the most of your stay in Costa Rica. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy the swimming pool, relax and settle in, then perhaps take a walk around the city or choose an optional activity.

At 7:00 p.m., get ready for a 5-minute car transfer to Ditsú, a farm-to-table restaurant and urban ecosystem for sustainability, where you will enjoy a wonderful 4-course welcome dinner, to experience the best of contemporary Costa Rican cuisine.

Our theme this evening will be creatively getting to know one another and exploring your hopes and desires for the retreat. After enjoying a caco ceremony with an indigenous elder, we will review the itinerary we have planned for you.

Working with Felipe is always a pleasure. He's so responsive, reliable and I feel 100% confident traveling knowing he's available at any time and he's monitoring my trip. Every guide he partners with has made our trip so memorable. I appreciate Felipe tremendously and I would highly recommend!

I cannot thank Felipe enough for all his help from start to finish. A friend of mine introduced me to Felipe as she had used him to book a trip to Costa Rica. He was brilliant through the planning and booking of my trip, which was not simple as it was a month in Costa Rica over Christmas so lots of challenges with availability. He helped me book an amazing trip and kept in touch over the month helping me with trip booking, restaurant reservations and even arranged for me to have a sim card so I could use my phone. Nothing was too much trouble. I cannot recommend Felipe and Sumak enough!

We have been traveling in time on an incredible journey through the mystical lands of the Maya, from the 16th Century BC, when the ancient site of Lamanai in Belize was founded, to majestic Tikal, City of Voices in Guatemala to immersing ourselves in the present day traditional lives of the Tzutujil people in San Juan la Laguna on the shores of Lake Atitlan, who are direct descendants of the Maya. Everywhere the scenery and wildlife have been spectacular and the ancient sites awe-inspiring, but most striking of all has been the warmth and generosity of the people. Our grateful thanks to Felipe at Sumak Travel and Pablo at Etnica SC for making all this possible.

We had an amazing time. Accommodations and planned activities met all our needs, hotels had the best views, food and service. Daily check in and suggestions as related to optional activities and places to eat were invaluable. Thank you so much for making this trip an unforgettable experience!
