About this trip

Join us on this small group retreat to Colombia!

Part urban adventure and part beach retreat, this trip will introduce you to one of Colombia's most beautiful and vibrant cities, as well as transport you to one of its most gorgeous landscapes on the wild Caribbean Sea.

We'll spend our first 3 nights in the old Spanish colonial city of Cartagena, spellbound by the art, history, food, and energy.

Our city sojourn will be followed by a 5 night retreat to a secluded beach hideaway at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where the jungle meets the sea.  We'll immerse ourselves in nature, unspool our nervous systems, and connect with local indigenous people.

As a dynamic, curious, and light-hearted traveler, one of my great joys is introducing people to fascinating places. When we arrive in a new place, we begin to connect with local people, the culture, and the landscape. These interactions inevitably begin to change our inner landscapes as well: hearts swell, minds open, compassion and acceptance spread. I try to facilitate this same connection & expansion when I'm back home teaching yoga at local studios in Hoboken, Jersey City, and NYC. Let's go on some inner/outer adventures together!

We had the best time. Kim knows how to bring strangers together. By the end of the two days I felt like we had known each other forever. That is all thanks to Kim. The food was spectacular. The yoga classes were always just what everyone needed in the moment. The lodging was adorable and comfortable. I highly recommend retreats with Kim at the helm. Perfect!

Colombia This was a magical trip, from the busy, musical, art filled streets of colorful Cartagena to the quiet, mystical, lush green density of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The trip had it all. A great local hotel with a rooftop pool in a very old section of Cartagena allowed for relaxing with an amazing cocktail after a city tour, or after our visit to an artist’s studio, or to the local market or to pat the butt of a Botero sculpture (considered a guarantee that you will return). Then on to the beach resort where the mountains meet the sea and where we met indigenous peoples who took us back in time and in spirit. Trekking in their habitat with a guide led us to an untouched waterfall, and later we sat with the women and learned how they used plants for making threads and weaving and medicine. We sat with a shaman and listened to this tribe’s vision of the world and their own creation story. They believe that the rivers that flow from the ice capped mountains are as sacred as our own bodies, and they believe that we need to take better care of all of it. We leisurely rode in individual inner tubes down one of these rivers until we came to the sea. Truly a unique and special experience. Yes, there are places where the world seems to have stopped, and we should all explore them before they go away. Of course there was wonderful Kim yoga and of course there was Kim’s impeccable planning. The food at the resort was truly outstanding. Each day a new fruit or fresh fish or surprise vegetable, always served with beauty and care. I would highly recommend this trip.

This was a great adventure! Perfect combination of city exploration and relaxation in nature. Cartagena is a vibrant city with beautiful architecture. The hotel was very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The resort near Sierra Nevada Mountains was in the middle of a lush landscape, where we were surrounded with beautiful sights, sounds, and smells of nature, which created an amazingly peaceful atmosphere that is unmatched. The specially selected tours to an indigenous village and river added another level of discovery in this beautiful country that created an urge to explore it further. The food in both places was delicious. I highly recommend this trip.
