About this trip

This exciting and enriching 8-day cultural and continuing education experience explores Ghanaian history, culture, and social welfare.  The perfect balance of educational and experiential learning activities,  participants will visit significant landmarks; engage in stimulating discussions and networking opportunities with local professionals; complete noteworthy workshops focusing on mental health, cultural competency, historical and secondary trauma, and self-care; and explore approaches to address well-being on a global and local level.  This continuing education experience is ideal for social work practitioners, educators, policy makers, other helping professionals.  Companions/friends welcome! *28 Social work CEs pending approval. Other professionals should confirm acceptance with their local license board.

    With over 20 years experience in organizing and hosting group travel, your host will help to ensure that you holistic needs are met!
  • Workshops
    Continuing Education workshops and self-care sessions. Social Work CEs pending approval. Other professional groups should consult with relevant licensure boards for approval.

What’s not included

  • Roundtripfare to Ghana
    Airfare is NOT included. Please arrive in Ghana by August 8th (which may mean departure from home city on Aug. 7)
  • Lunch and Dinners
    Lunch and dinners are not included unless noted on itinerary
  • Alcoholic Beverages
    Not provided during sponsored breakfast, lunch, or dinner activities. All alcoholic beverages are purchased on your own.
  • Travel/Medical Insurance
    Not included but required: Participants will be asked to supply proof of international travel insurance. Consider
  • Gratutity
    Please note: gratuity is not included in rate however tips to tour guides, drives, and waitstaff are requested. A suggested guide will be provided during pre-departure consulting.
  • Missed Activities
    Missed activities are non-refundable. See Terms and Conditions on website for more info.
  • Ground transportation
    Ground transport for non-itinerary items are not included.
  • Passport fees
    Passports are required for travel. Fees associated with obtaining a passport are required but not included. More information provided during pre-departure consulting.
  • Visa
    Visas are required for entry into Ghana (for most travelers.) Fees associated with obtaining a visa are required but not included in rate. More information provided during pre-departure consulting.
  • Innoculations
    Some innoculations are required for entry into Ghana. Fees associated with obtaining innoculations are required but not included in rate. More information provided during pre-departure consulting.
  • Medical and Emergencies
    Participants must provide proof of insurance coverage internationally for healthcare and emergency needs. See Terms and conditions on website for more information.

Shared double room option (both full social work program participants only). Must identify roommate's name one month prior to departure or payee responsible for paying full single occupancy rate.  Rate only available until January 31, 2020. Note: roommate much register separately, and will only be afforded discounted rate if registered by said early bird offer end date.  Please note shared occupancy cannot add-on additional companions.

Day 1 - Akwaaba!
Arrival Day and Welcome Reception

Akwaaba (welcome!) You have arrived!!!! Smell the air, feel the sun, take it all in! After landing at Kotoka International Airport, you will check-in at your home for the next week.  Get settled, rest, and join us for an evening welcome reception where you will meet your fellow sojourners!
