We had long wanted to see Chimborazo after reading so much about Humboldt's climb there, and Real Dreams made it happen. We left at 6:15am and were back at the hotel by 7pm. Beautiful scenery along the almost 4-hour drive. Andres was a very knowledgeable tour guide and Jimmy a very skilled driver--getting us up to 15,000 ft over a wash-boarded gravel road. The vehicle was well-suited to the terrain and comfortable. Andres accompanied us on a hike up to 16,000 ft, which was as high as we felt comfortable hiking. He was very sensitive to our pace. On the way back, we stopped at a wonderful local restaurant with delicious Ecuadorian food. The place--with its climbing memoranda--reminded us of guest houses on the hike to Everest base camp. A highlight was the statue of Humboldt out front. As a plus, we commented that we were disappointed not to see Cotopaxi as well; due to our Galapagos tour leaving Quito earlier than expected the next day, we had canceled a tour to Cotopaxi. Andres and Jimmy assured us that our timing would work and so we booked a Real Dreams tour for Cotopaxi for the next day, specifically requesting Andres and Jimmy. It too was a fantastic day with timing that accommodated our schedule. (Separate review of the Cotopaxi tour.)

It was a great trip. Andres was a very knowledgeable tour guide, and Jimmy a very skilled driver. Jimmy safely negotiated Quito traffic and then a badly wash-boarded gravel road getting us to 15,000 feet on Cotopaxi. Andres picked a very nice local restaurant on the way home with delicious Ecuadorian food. We had discussed scheduling with Andres and Jimmy ahead of time, explaining that due to our tour group change in plans, we had to be back at our hotel in Quito by 4pm. They got us back precisely at 4. It was a wonderful day.

It was a fantastic experience from the guide to the museums. Our family enjoyed the adventure (ages 20-69). Our guide was great, knowledgeable, and personable.
