About this trip

Escape the cold and join Blue Planet for a long weekend of diving in Cozumel! The island offers big reefs, warm water, great viz and a guaranteed good time. Complete your eLearning at home and then jet off to Mexico to finish your pool work and certification dives in the clear waters of the Caribbean. Our instructors will be with you every step of the way! Certified divers are welcome too. Stick around afterwards and explore the beautiful cenotes with us!

Cozumel

Cozumel is one of the most popular dive destinations in the Caribbean. With world-class drift diving and abundant marine life, beginners and advanced divers alike will delight in the underwater exploration with our expert dive guide. The choice of activities are boundless in Cozumel: golden beaches, turquoise waters, friendly people, festivals, scattered Mayan ruins, great restaurants, a myriad of stores, diving, golfing, romance, and a whole new world where everybody has a place under the sun. But the diving takes center stage...

The Diving

Minimum dive certification/experience:  Perfect for beginners. A great spot to complete your Open Water Diver certification, Advanced Open Water Diver and more.

Most dive sites are found within the boundaries of the Cozumel Reefs National Marine Park, which protects 29,000 acres of the Meso-American reef system – the second largest barrier reef system in the world. Created in 1996, the park is home to some 26 types of corals with more than 100 subspecies and more than 500 fish species, including the endemic splendid toadfish. Divers often encounter sea turtles, sharks, moray eels and other critters while drift diving on the currents Cozumel is famous for.

Cozumel Hotel & Resort

Cozumel Hotel & Resort is an all-inclusive resort perfectly set up for divers. It's a short walk from downtown Cozumel and right on the water front. With 3 restaurants on site plus a beach club, a huge pool and jacuzzi as well as dive lockers, rinse tanks, shore diving and a private pier, it's the perfect place for a quick dive getaway.

We've reserved Standard rooms furnished with either one king size bed or two double beds, a private balcony or terrace, flat screen TV, a direct dial telephone, radio/alarm-clock, safety deposit box, iron, and ironing board. All bathrooms are marble finish with shower and bathtub, hairdryer and toiletries.

Travel

Round-trip flights to Cozumel are around $350 and go up from there. You can also fly into Cancun and either take a local flight to Cozumel on Maya Air OR take the ferry to Cozumel from Playa del Carmen. You should plan to arrive at Hotel Cozumel on December 3rd. If you get in early, you can get a shore dive in at the hotel! When leaving, choose any flight that leaves after 1 PM on the 7th. Please contact the shop before booking your flights.

Good people, yummy food, delicious drinks and fun activities in the water and above. Ocean temp was a little cooler than expected, but it’s always fun when you can go diving and see abundant schools of fish, nudibranchs and flying devil rays!!! Everyone was super nice and accommodating. Good times all around. I could stay in Costa Rica forever!!!

Another wonderful trip, big thanks to Anthony: great company, nice resorts, lots of variety. Diving in Pacific waters was cool-ish, volcanic, featured multiple octopuses, white tipped sharks, gigantic moray, some nice nudis. Nice beach walks, paddle-boarding. Later great critter watching in riverboat trip,, hanging bridges, waterfalls, tortilla-making class, thermal baths. Jose hit 100%-anteater, sloth, toucans, crocs. Glorious.

My first Blue Planet trip, and it was great. Tho i'm only open water cert'd, no problems being a full part of the group. Anthony -- trip leader -- was awesome. He manages the group well and keeps everyone informed thru the trip. Rocket Frog was a good diver operation partner. Got lots of new diving experience. And the hike (a walk in the woods) and waterfall (500 steps down & up, with a swimming hole at the bottom) and tortilla-making (a bit touristy but hands down the best meal of the trip) were a busy but fun day in Arenal. Looking forward to my next Blue Planet trip!
