DEEP ECOLOGY OF WELLNESS
a community stay + creative residency
hosted by Yoga Trade
Spend a full lunar cycle (one month) living in the jungle at the Yoga Farm in Costa Rica. This community stay / residency is rooted in wellness, creativity, community, and regenerative living. Connect deeply with nature, practice yoga daily, and engage in weekly workshops. Learn from experienced facilitators: Yoga Trade founders + friends - while also having the opportunity to share your gifts and connect with a cohort. A well balanced blend of structured activities and free time.
This program is designed with yoga teachers, wellness professionals, and/or nature enthusiasts in mind. But really, it is for anyone who desires time + space + support to focus on wellness and creativity! It is also for those who are looking to reignite the inner spark, live simply, connect with community, and allow the jungle and warm sea to stimulate the creative brain. There is no previous experience necessary, only the craving to learn and grow.
The community stay / residency will be April 1st - 30th, 2023 with a few days included for integration on either end. Full programming will commence Monday, April 3rd - Friday, April 28th.
There will be yoga 6 days a week and other classes, activities, and workshops sprinkled through the month in the following areas:
- Movement + Meditation
- Community Building + Service
- Vision + Purpose + Clarity
- Permaculture Basics + Regenerative Living
- Creativity
- Writing
- Culinary Arts
- Nature Altars
- Sound + Dance
- Water Awareness
There will also be allocated time for 'co-working space', weekly community skill shares, and optional nature excursions. We all will collectively pitch in about 10 hours a week to 'farm responsibilities' which will include light chores, garden projects, and cooking (super fun and educational).
The Yoga Farm is a rustic yoga center and sustainable living project located on the southernmost Pacific coast Costa Rica; a short distance from the spectacular surfing beach of Pavones. Set amidst beautiful tropical rainforest, and overlooking open ocean, we are ideally located for those looking to reconnect with mind, body, and nature.
This remote area is geographically, biologically, and culturally diverse. There are plenty of opportunities to explore the forest, visit indigenous homesteads, as well as relax and play on a beach that is uncrowded by tourism or nightlife.
The landscape abounds with edible and medicinal plants, and we add to the harvestable amount of plant life on the property every season. We grow several varieties of bananas, mangoes, pineapples, papayas, guanabana, coconuts, anona, jackfruit, starfruit, citrus, avocados, water apples, cinnamon, cacao, perennial greens and herbs, our own yoga farm bred chilis, bamboo, beans and peas, taro, ginger, turmeric, vanilla, and black pepper to name a few. Two fresh water springs provide crystal clear drinking water.
The ocean is a beautiful, constant, and integral part of life in Punta Banco. We are located at the southern tip of the Golfo Dulce, looking out both across the gulf to the Osa Peninsula and south to open Pacific waters. The area is home to an abundance of marine life. Sea turtles, dolphins and whales among many other species frequent the coastal waters, and local fisherman bring fresh catch to market several times a week. At low tides, the beach is perfect for walking, exploring tide pools, fishing, and sunbathing. Unlike much of Costa Rica, few tourists visit the beaches this far south, making it a perfect spot for stargazing and beach fires instead of noisy nightlife.
***This is an authentic 'jungle living' experience; muddy feet, waking up with howler monkeys, and sharing space with unique critters and each other.
***There is wifi at the Yoga Farm, but it will be on a timer and will be turned on for 2-3 hours per day. If you have super important commitments that require you to be online a lot - this may not be the residency for you. If you can get by with 2-3 hours of 'somewhat reliable' internet a day and would enjoy living most of the hours of the day offline, this is a good fit!
***The Yoga Farm is a 10-15 minute walk up a STEEP dirt road from the beach. It is definitely a good workout. Down for the legs and up for the heart:)
We will celebrate and be nourished by three healthy + delicious meals a day. The food will be primarily vegetarian, Costa Rican inspired, created with as many local + organic ingredients as possible, and made with love. We may offer a few fresh fish + chicken options depending on the preferences of the group. Unlimited coffee, tea, and farm snacks are always available. Opportunities to help in many aspects of nutrition if desired! Learn about growing food, harvesting, and a variety of jungle cooking skills. Please let us know your food preferences upon registration.
