Detty December: Vibes Unleashed is the celebration of all celebrations. Welcome the new year in Ghana with the crew that knows a thing or two about turning up. From the world's best DJs to mouth-watering cuisines, Ghana is the perfect destination for the ultimate party marathon.
When you arrive at the airport, you'll pass through customs, grab your checked luggage, and exit the airport. Spot the Onyx Group crew waiting for you AT Arrivals!
We'll stop at a Forex Bureau to exchange currency, then head to the hotel to settle in.
Food and fellowship are our love languages in Ghana, so we'll grab dinner to officially say "Woezɔ" or “Akwaaba” (Welcome).
What better way to recover from jetlag than a day at the beach? We'll spend the afternoon watching the waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash against the shore.
Be sure to indulge in the delicious fresh fruit juices, coconut water, and tasty treats such as charcoal-grilled tilapia and spicy kebabs.
Prefer to opt-out? Get your hair braided or explore shops in Accra!
To be honest, there's nothing we could say here to capture the essence of Accra. You'll just have to experience it yourself! Traffic can be rough, but isn't a gridlock just an opportunity to fully take in the sights, sounds, and scents of the city?! With a population of 2.27 million, this hub for creativity and culture is truly a wanderer's wonderland.
In our Accra city tour, we'll check out some of Ghana's most prized national treasures, including Independence Square, Makola Market, and the Centre for National Culture. We'll do lots of shopping in the markets of the city center, and there will certainly be a crash course on "bargaining."
We're heading off course with a guided quad biking exhibition through the Aburi Mountains. This adrenaline pumping experience will give us the runner's high we need to properly celebrate Detty December!
We will embark on a day trip to Cape Coast, approximately 3 hours from Accra by bus. We will visit Cape Coast Castle, including the notorious Door of No Return.
Depending on our schedule, we may squeeze in a visit to Kakum National Fo. There, we will take a 45-minute hike and cross over canopy bridges suspended 130 feet above ground. Take in the panoramas on this one-of-a-kind trek before heading back to Accra.
It’s New Year’s Day, and we’re officially in 2025. Take the day to rest, grab brunch, or head out for some fun. Day party at the beach? Connect with new friends? The possibilities are endless--just like the new year!
After a taste of Accra and Cape Coast, we’re venturing into the Volta Region for a two-day excursion. The trip to Volta can take up to 3-4 hours, and the road conditions are extremely poor and bumpy. In some areas, we may have zero access to cell service or internet connections. It's best to think of our time in the Volta Region as a "retreat."
We'll bask in Ewe culture with a special visit to the Chief of Awate Agame. We will participate in a "naming ceremony," where we'll be given names originating from Ghanaian culture. White attire is traditionally worn during this ceremony. At the end of the day, we will head to our hotel in Ho for a well-deserved night's rest.
Our adventure continues, we're exploring the best that the Volta has to offer. Its landscape of rolling hills and valleys, with rocky outcrops, lagoons, rivers and waterfalls, is one of nature's most attractive gifts to Ghana. Expect to feed curious monkeys at Tafi Atome, hike to Wli Falls for a swim, witness kente weaving in action, and much, much more.
Grab some breakfast and prepare for a relaxing day. You might try a new restaurant, explore the city one last time, or finalize your souvenir purchases.
We'll wrap up this unforgettable experience with a farewell dinner.
It's departure day, but the party's not over. Let's sprint toward the finish, setting a personal record for the most epic December celebration.
We'll say "see you later" for now and raise a glass to future adventures together!
Cheers!
