About your trip

Dhorpatan Trek is a pleasant trek through mixed country offering views of impressive Mountains. Dhorpatan Trek is most suitable for those who are interested in wildlife hunting. For those interested, we also organize a hunting package which takes another 4 to 5 extra days. Controlled hunting is allowed with a proper license and during certain seasons of the year. Anybody with good physical condition and who can walk for several hours a day can trek in this region. You don’t have to be an expert expedition climber for this. It provides excellent mountain views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. The hunting license is issued by the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation in Kathmandu. Dhorpatan is an attractive destination for trekkers and wildlife enthusiasts as protection has enabled animal numbers to increase in this rarely-visited place.

The trek starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Beni, before going through Darbang, Dharapani, Lamsung, Jaljala, Dhorpatan, PhagunePhedi, PhaguneDanda, Gurjaghat, and Patichaur. During the trek, you will also stay overnight in a jungle camp and explore the Dhorpatan valley.

Highlights of Dhorpatan Trek:

  • Visit Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve- Nepal’s only hunting reserve

  • Explore the culture and tradition of local Magar people

  • Walk through lush forests

  • Close-up view of Mt. Dhaulagiri
