Join me this Halloween for my Temazcal Ceremony & Yoga Retreat. Through daily asana, pranayama, meditation, satya circles and the healings of a Temazcal Ceremony we will honor Dia De Los Muertos by taking this time to shed dead energy from our bodies and spirit to make room for the new.

For cleansing and spiritual rejuvenation we will participate in a Temazcal ceremony, an unforgettable and beautiful sweat lodge experience used traditionally by pre- Hispanic indigenous peoples of Mexico. Temazcal has been known to be very therapeutic for purifying the mind, body and soul and bring about spiritual awakening and healing.
Outside of the retreat schedule, there will be plenty to do in Yelapa. Go into town to witness the beautiful artwork and Day of the Dead celebrations, explore the quaint alleyways of the pueblo, hike to the waterfalls, lay out on the gorgeous white sand beaches sipping on fresh coconuts, grab a kayak and paddle the bay or swim around with a snorkel, book a massage or reiki session, go hang gliding or simply grab a book plop in your hammock and just relax. To ensure a pure and cleansing retreat experience we don’t allow loud music or alcohol at the property.
This retreat is about shedding off dead energy to make room for new energy. Through daily asana, meditation and Satya circles will dive into self exploration of mind, body and spirit. The highlight of our experience will be the Temazcal Cereony. Temazcal comes from the Nahuatl language of Central Mexico and translates as “house of heat.” Since ancient times, a temazcal ceremony is considered to be a healing and purification ceremony that cleanses the mind, body, and spirit and brings about spiritual awakening.
The Lodge
Pura vida in Spanish means pure life. It became their mantra and their intention. Aligning our way of living with what we see is true, so the conscious spirit can thrive and live it’s full potential.
Pura Vida is a non-denominational, spiritual, health-focused eco-retreat center in a tropical paradise in Mexico with beautiful accommodations right by the ocean, for those seeking connection with nature and themselves.
Pura Vida offers a combination of a spiritual retreat, spa by the ocean and alternative, holistic healing therapies. Their peaceful, secluded ocean front resort is located in Yelapa, Mexico, a small bay within Puerto Vallarta Bay, accessible only by boat. It’s only 2 hour direct flight from Los Angeles or 3 hour flight from San Francisco.
Pure Vida eco retreat is mostly EMF free. There is Wi-Fi limited to certain hours in the common area. There are spots on the property where you can get cellular reception. We invite our guests to retreat from the media, computers and phones. Unlike other hotels in the area, you are not limited just to your room. It’s a communal, spiritual retreat experience.
You are welcome to walk on the paths and explore the exotic park with many quiet places to meditate, do yoga, get a massage, hang out at the meeting places, explore healthy vegetarian and Mexican cuisine at our Restaurant or just enjoy the amazing views.

Our journey begins!
Fly into Puerto Vallarta International Airport. Grab a taxi and head to “Los Muertos” pier (located in Old PV or La Zona Romantica) to take a water taxi to Yelapa. As you approach the pier keep an eye out for 'Water Taxi' signs where you can purchase your ticket. Tickets are around $15-20 round trip (these prices are subject to change). If you arrive in between stops and you’ve got some time to kill, check out the cool cafe's and restaurants until the next boat comes. Your vacation starts now :)
Assuming you catch a water taxi when you arrive at the pier, the trip from the airport to Yelapa will take around 1.5-2 hours and is a lovely experience. Keep an eye out for whales and dolphins on your water taxi ride over! Our first meal together is Dinner so feel free to eat lunch in town or bring a snack with you.
Check in anytime after 2pm. Our opening ceremony will begin at 5pm! If you arrive early take a dip in the ocean, stroll along the quaint alley ways, explore the meditation gardens or simply relax in your hammock!
Through daily asana, pranayama, meditation, satya circles and the healings of a Temazcal Ceremony we will honor Dia De Los Muertos by taking this time to shed dead energy from our bodies and spirit to make room for the new.
In the mornings we will awaken our bodies with energizing asana classes overlooking the gorgeous ocean below! Afterwards we'll enjoy a delicious organic breakfast and then you are free to hang at the beach, enjoy the pool, explore the town of Yelapa, take a hike to the waterfall and float in the swimming holes, stroll through the zen gardens, journal, taste the culture of Yelapa for lunch at one of the many quaint cafe's or restaurants, book tours (hang gliding, fish and dolphin tours, horseback ride, island hop, etc) or schedule a spa service, grab a snorkel or kayak or simply relax and enjoy your jungle and ocean views from your hammock. Be sure to check out the festivities of Dia de los Muertos: painted skulls, altars and folk dances you wont want to miss! The little town of Yelapa is more quiet than Puerto Vallarta but if you choose you are more than welcome to take a water taxi into PV for the day. Puerto Vallarta is a lovely and safe walking city with beautiful beach views.
After a day of leisure and adventure we will all meet in the afternoons for our Satya Circles and then end with meditation at sunset. A Satya Circle is a favorite for many guests. Satya means 'truthfullness'. You will be introduced to different activities and topics and we will all gather to speak and experience our truth.
After meditation we will indulge in a healthy dinner where upon afterwards everyone we will have the options to stargaze, watch an inspirational/spiritual movie, relax in a comfy setting and share the stories of the day or go back to your rooms to relax in beautiful peace and quiet.
During one of the evening sessions will be all participate in a Temazcal Ceremony led by a local Shaman. A temazcal is a type of sweat lodge which originated with pre-Hispanic Indigenous peoples in Mesoamerica. Temazcal is said to purify the mind, body and soul and bring about spiritual awakening and healing.
Farewell and safe travels home!
After our last morning asana class (optional) we will enjoy for our last meal together, check out by 11am and begin our departures back home feeling refreshed, energized and light with openness!
