About this trip

DURATION: 2 HOURS

A circular walk with steep ascent and descent for some of the finest views anywhere on the Pembrokeshire coast. This is not a long walk but one to test your fitness, with plenty of reasons to stop and admire the scenery.

Highlights along the way will be visiting the charming coastal beaches of Pwllgwaelod and secluded cove of Cwm Yr Eglwys. We will visit the remains of St Brynachs Church at Cwm Yr Eglwys, where the church was destroyed in what became known as the Royal Charter Storm of 1859.

The walk passes Needle Rock and during the Summer months of May-July you will see razorbills and guillemots perched breeding on this outcrop close to the cliff edge.

Walk Briefing
Cym yr Eglwys

9:30am - A short 5 minute walk from Pwllgwaelod is Cwm yr Eglwys (translates into English) as ‘Valley of the Church’. The main attraction, apart from the secluded beach is the the 12th century St. Brynach’s Church. The church was destroyed by the great storm of 1859, and only the west end of the church remains, perched on the high edge of the beach which has now a strong reinforced wall to protect it from any storms to hit the cove.
