About this trip

Join Michelle at Playa Viva, one of the most unique and vibrant eco-centers in Mexico. Balance your body and mind with rejuvenating morning yoga sessions, restorative evening yoga sessions and therapeutic massage. Nourish your health dining on fresh meals prepared with care, using organic and/or locally grown ingredients.  With plenty of free time to explore the area or simply be still, you will have the space and freedom to absorb the healing benefits that only immersing yourself in nature can bring.  Take this opportunity to unplug from today’s many distractions and connect to your intuitive, creative and vibrant being!

A Sense of Place

Combining simple elegance with natural beauty and a commitment to improving the environment and the local community, Playa Viva is a sustainable boutique hotel located on the western coast of Mexico, just 35 minutes south of Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa Int’l Airport.  Nestled between the sparkling water of the Pacific Ocean and the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains near the village of Juluchuca, Playa Viva is situated on a mile of pristine and private beach.

The property’s nearly 200 acres includes an estuary, an Aztec archeological site, turtle sanctuary, and a coastal forest and mangrove ecosystem which supports an array of stunning wildlife.  Playa Viva is close enough to the trappings of modernity yet worlds away, providing immersion into the wonders of nature and escape into utter private relaxation.

The natural landscape and luxurious setting provides an escape from it all while providing a jumping off point to a host of adventures and experiences — from hiking, fishing, kayaking and surfing… to mountain tours, traditional Temezcal sweat lodge and charitable opportunities.  It’s all there waiting for you – doing everything or nothing at all.

Getting There

Playa Viva is a 35 minute ride from Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa Int’l Airport (ZIH) This airport is served by over 80 direct flights per week with half the flights from Mexico City and the other half of non-stop flights from major North American airports. The most direct flights from the US are from Houston, followed by Los Angeles, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Dallas. Direct flights from Canada originate in Calgary.

Studio

*Pricing is per person at Double Occupancy, contact Michelle to confirm availability (Single Occupancy available at $1750)*: Studios have an unobstructed ocean view and include either two Single beds or a King bed upon request. Room also has a desk. Studios are part of the 4 bedroom Casita. These are moderately sized rooms that adjoin the Deluxe Suites, which can be rented separately. Deluxe Suite

*Pricing is per person at Double Occupancy, contact Michelle to confirm availability (Single Occupancy available at $2050/Triple $1500)*: Spacious Room with a King Bed and trundle bed that can sleep two more. Room has unobstructed view of the ocean. Deluxe Suites are part of 4 Bedroom Casita - larger structure - consisting of two Deluxe Suites each with an adjoining Studio. Studios rent separately or can be joined with Deluxe Suite to form a Two-Bedroom Suite. Deluxe Suites have private bath and share a large balcony with the other Deluxe Suite that serves as a large outdoor living room containing couch, chairs and table. Balcony has unobstructed ocean view. Because rooms have vaulted palapa roofs, this room has visual privacy but not complete audio privacy from adjoining Studio. The sound of the ocean muffles much of the noise but for ultimate privacy choose the Private Casita or an EcoCasita.

Queen Eco-Casita

SOLD OUT *Pricing is per person at Double Occupancy, contact Michelle to confirm availability (Single Occupancy available at $2150)*: Queen EcoCasitas are a one-bedroom self contained "Casita" (little house). EcoCasitas are outfitted with a Queen Bed (we can add a single bed or crib if necessary, but this makes it a little crowded). These rooms have an unobstructed ocean view. EcoCasitas have a private bathroom on the same level and feature shutter doors to open for full ocean view or close for complete privacy. A small table and chairs are also available.

King EcoCasitas are each outfitted with a King Bed (can be separated into two singles) plus two single day beds that serve as comfortable couches during the day. These rooms have an unobstructed ocean view. King EcoCasitas have private bathroom on the same level and have shutter doors to open for full ocean view or close for complete privacy. A small table and chairs are also available. One of the King EcoCasitas has a ramp rather than stairs and is outfitted for easier use by the handicapped or elderly.
