The masks that dance for Dionysus and drive away the swirling spirits
A deeply ancient public rite, full of spectacle and metaphor.
Towards the beginning or the middle of winter, groups of Kukeri wear elaborate costumes and fantastic masks with belts of iron bells and accompany the musicians through the village, dancing rhythmically to chase away evil and incite the good.
"Seeing the Kukeri is really incredible.
Monopolize the senses, you can't look elsewhere "
