A Ghana Love Affair, Come Fall in Love

At RoaminWithRonnie, every journey is personal, powerful, and rooted in love for Ghana. I’m Dr. Ronda, and from the moment I first stepped foot in Ghana in 2017, my heart was forever changed.

What started as a simple visit quickly became a lifelong connection. I’ll never forget the day my shoe broke while walking the vibrant streets of Osu. A stranger stopped, helped me find my way, and even repaired my shoe—expecting nothing in return. A week later, he found me again and smiled, saying only, “Welcome home.” That simple act of kindness captured the spirit of Ghana: generous, soulful, and full of heart.

Since then, I’ve roamed across this breathtaking country—standing in awe on the savannahs of Mole, dancing through the cultural heartbeat of Kumasi, breathing in the ocean air of Takoradi, and feeling the pulse of Accra’s energy. Every place, every person, every moment has deepened my love for this land.

This isn’t just travel—it’s a homecoming.

That’s why I’ve partnered with Afia Tours, Ghana’s premier eco-travel company, to create meaningful and unforgettable experiences. Together, we bring you curated journeys that connect you to Ghana’s culture, people, and natural beauty in the most authentic way.

✨ Whether you're walking through ancient castles, tasting local cuisine, dancing under the stars, or hearing stories passed down for generations, Ghana will touch your soul.

So come roam with me.
Discover the warmth.
Feel the rhythm.
Live the magic.

📍 Book your unforgettable Ghanaian adventure today—with RoaminWithRonnie and Afia Tours—and experience the country I now call my second home.

Head to Cape Coast - Volunteer

We begin our day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, savoring fresh tropical fruits, rich Ghanaian coffee, and warm local dishes to energize us for a day that blends history, culture, and breathtaking nature.

Our first stop takes us deep into Ghana’s poignant past at the Assin Manso Slave River . Nestled in a quiet, reflective setting, this river once served as the place where enslaved Africans took their last bath before being forced into the harrowing journey across the Atlantic. As you walk along the banks and hear the stories, you’ll feel the weight and resilience of our ancestors, honored forever in this sacred space.

From reflection to connection, we continue to one of the most heartfelt highlights of our journey—the ancestral home village of our founder, Enock, tucked in the green embrace of Ghana’s Central Region. This is not a performance; it’s an invitation. An authentic Ghanaian village experience where you’ll be welcomed with open arms by local elders in a traditional greeting ceremony, followed by an energetic and joyful cultural performance by the village’s children and women—complete with drumming, dancing, and radiant smiles.

You’ll be invited to experience true Ghanaian hospitality, joining a family to explore the essence of our local cuisine. Together, you’ll share a lovingly prepared traditional Ghanaian lunch, a feast of bold flavors and warm stories. This is where food becomes family.

After lunch, you’ll stroll to the village’s cocoa plantation, the lifeblood of the local economy. There, you’ll learn how Ghana’s globally beloved chocolate begins, straight from the hands of hardworking farmers. Crack open a pod, breathe in the earthy scent of fresh cocoa, and appreciate the journey from seed to sweetness.

To round out your immersion, experience a day in the life of a Ghanaian villager—from fetching water at the river to visiting a local school project, where you’ll meet bright young students and gain a deeper understanding of the community’s hopes and dreams. It’s not just a visit—it’s a relationship.

With gratitude and heartfelt goodbyes, we continue our journey on to Cape Coast, where more wonders await.

The Door of No Return stands as a haunting symbol of the tragic fate that befell millions. This is more than a visit; it’s an opportunity to reflect on the painful history that shaped the destinies of so many, leaving an indelible mark on the world.

Afterward, you’ll enjoy a delicious meal you helped create, savoring the flavors of this vibrant culture.

In the afternoon, we’ll head to Kakum National Park, one of Ghana’s most celebrated natural wonders. a.  Valid Passport - Make sure your passport doesn't expire within 6 months of trip

b. Vaccination - Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Ghana. Go now to get your shot.

c. Travel Insurance - Life happens so be prepared.  I list some plans below as suggestions but feel free to use your own.

d. Money - They take US dollars so get a bunch of singles.  Also order in advance Cedis. Alert your bank that you will be traveling so no issues when using ATM or Credit Cards. Local Currency (Ghanaian Cedi - GHS)
 - It’s a good idea to have some local currency for small purchases or taxis.

- ATMs are widely available, but always notify your bank to avoid international card issues.

-  Gratuities for tour and site guides and drivers.  They accept Cedis or Dollars
e. International Phone Plan/Local SIM Card - Get an international roaming plan or buy a local SIM card upon arrival for data and local calls.
f. Check weather before you go to see what clothes to bring.  Ghana is HOT so dress accordingly.

- Light, breathable clothes – Accra is warm and humid, so light cotton fabrics are ideal.

-Comfortable shoes – For walking around the city and local attractions.

-Modest attire – Though Ghana is quite liberal, modest dress is appreciated in religious or rural areas.

-Rain gear – Depending on the season (April–October can be rainy), consider packing a light rain jacket or umbrella.

- Sexy Outfits – We're going to hit the clubs and nightlife scene to get your cute outfits ready.

- White Outfit – We will wear all white one night when we go out

g. Sunscreen & Insect Repellent - The sun in Accra can be intense. SPF 30 or higher is recommended. Also bring Mosquito repellent to protect against malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
h. Power Adapter/Voltage Converter - Ghana uses Type G plugs (UK-style three-pin plug) and operates on 230V with a frequency of 50Hz. Bring the necessary adapter or converter.

i.  Portable Charger/Power Bank - You know we have to keep those phone charges to get these pictures. Don't forget this item.
j.  Copy of Important Documents - Make copies of your passport, visa, travel insurance, and flight tickets in case they get lost or stolen.
k. Small Backpack or Daypack - For carrying your essentials while out sightseeing, shopping, or exploring.

l. First Aid Kit - Include basics like plasters, bandages, antiseptic, pain relievers, and any personal medications you may need.

m. School Supplies or Games (Volunteer) - We will be volunteering so please bring something for the kids. They also like Cash.
