Arrival at Mohamed V Casablanca airport, welcome by your driver at the terminal exit gate (1 or 2 depending on the airline) and transfer to your hotel.
After breakfast, orientation tour of Casablanca. Accompanied by a guide, you will see the United Nations square, the Mohamed V square, the Habous district and the "Mahkma Pacha", an architectural jewel of Casablanca, which served as a Muslim court and the residence of the Pacha. Then departure by train to Rabat where your driver will wait for you at the station. With a local guide you will discover this former Imperial City and political and administrative capital since the country's independence in 1956. Visit of the Hassan Tower, the Mohamed V Mausoleum, the Kasbah des Ouadays and the Chellah, located in a beautiful park, this 14th century necropolis of the Merinids is built on Roman foundations.
Transfer to the station and departure by TGV "Al Boraq" to Tangier, the gateway to Africa on the Strait of Gibraltar. Accompanied by your driver and a guide, you will explore this city steeped in history, which was once renowned for being mysterious and ill-famed. Due to its proximity to Europe, Tangier was an international free trade zone from 1923 to 1956 and attracted many artists, poets, outsiders, smugglers and spies of all kinds. Today it fascinates with its narrow and steep streets between the white walls of the houses, with its enigmatic atmosphere of a former smugglers' nest. Among the most beautiful sights are the romantic gardens of the former Sultan's Palace, the Mendoubia Park, the main gate Bab Fahs and the former royal residence "Dar el Makhzen" where today the Kasbah Museum is housed.
In the morning you take the train from Tangier to Fez. Lunch on board in the form of a packed lunch. In the afternoon you arrive in the oldest of the Imperial Cities and spiritual and intellectual capital of Morocco. Fez, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a living witness to history and culture, knowledge and religion, but also to the skills of Moroccan craftsmen and the culinary arts. The rest of the day is at your disposal.
At 09:00 a local guide will pick you up at the Riad. Fez consists of three areas:
Fes-el-Bali, the old part of the city, which dates back to the 9th century with a maze of small streets, so narrow that sometimes two people cannot pass each other. Here you will find almost all the historical and cultural sites of the city. Then Fes-el-Jedid, which means "New Fes" and then the New City, dating from the French protectorate. After a photo stop in front of the Royal Palace, you will cross "Le Mellah", the Jewish quarter. Then you will enjoy the panoramic view of the city from the South Borj and visit the pottery district. You will discover the old town, a labyrinth with thousands of small streets, where you will not get lost thanks to your guide. Stroll through this captivating medina with a visit to the Andalusian quarter, one of the Koranic schools, the Medersa Attarine or Bou Inania (14th century), the Nejjarine square with its remarkable fountain and the Kairaouiyine mosque (from the outside). In the baffling souks, you can watch the shopkeepers haggling and the craftsmen working in their workshops. In the afternoon, you can explore the area at your leisure.
OPTION 1: Excursions to Moulay Idriss Zerhoun and Volubilis
In the morning departure for Moulay Idriss through beautiful hilly landscapes. The small town on a hill surrounded by green plains where olive trees abound, is the most important place of pilgrimage in Morocco and until a few years ago access to this holy city was forbidden to non-Muslims. In the centre is the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss I, founder of the city of Fez, and the mosque with its round minaret, the only circular minaret in Morocco. From here, head to Volubilis, this ancient capital of "Mauretania Tingitana" the westernmost province of the Roman Empire, is a must for those who love history. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is an example of Roman urban design and architecture in antiquity. Many amazingly well-preserved ruins, columns and beautiful mosaics are on display. The excavated remains of the city bear witness to the past wealth of its inhabitants, who were active in the olive oil trade.
