3 NIGHTS/4 DAYS Quadra Island, BC
Join us for an immersive 4-day Navigation Intensive based out of the beautiful Discovery Islands Lodge on Quadra Island — a spectacular setting for deep learning, exploration, and connection on the water.
This program is designed for paddlers who want to build confidence and competence in navigation, trip planning, and coastal decision-making. Whether you’re refreshing existing skills or learning these tools for the first time, this intensive will give you practical, real-world experience you can carry into your future adventures.
This 4-day, 3-night Navigation Intensive is a hands-on deep dive into the skills required to plan, execute, and troubleshoot paddle excursions with confidence.
Each day includes significant time on the water as we tour the surrounding area and apply navigation skills introduced at the lodge and during our outings. You’ll learn to confidently use:
Nautical charts
Weather forecasts
Tide and current tables
Route planning tools and strategies
Paddling routes may include channel crossings, varied launches and landings, and exploration of the stunning islands within Surge Narrows Marine Park. The area offers incredible scenery, potential marine life sightings, and breathtaking views of the Coast Mountain Range.
Time will also be dedicated to paddle technique, self-rescue and assisted rescue skills, reinforcing safety and preparedness in real coastal conditions.
