About this trip

This adventure workshop is designed with a goal of encouraging serious beginning and intermediate drone pilots to expand their creativity and learn techniques to take their drone and aerial cinematography skills to the next level. We will not only guide you to the most photogenic locations carefully planned for the best light, but aid you in how to operate your drone to capture the best variety of shots. Our aim is to raise your technical knowledge and inspire your creativity so that you not only go home with footage to be proud of, but use your new found skills to improve and expand your aerial cinematography technique within any location.  Apart from the technical aspect of learning your drone’s settings and capabilities, you will learn how to better use the tools of post production to turn an ordinary image into an extraordinary one.

    Start and finishing in Salt Lake City

    We will reserve rooms in each location. If you require a single room there will be an additional charge.
  • Meals
    Basic breakfast and lunch are provided. We will try and accommodate any special dietary needs if we are notified in advance. Dinner on own with the exception opening night reception.

  • Airfare
    We'll be picking up and returning to Salt Lake City International Airport. Depart on arrival day from Salt Lake airport no later than 10am. We'll return to Salt Lake airport by 7pm on departure day.

10:00am | Pickup at SLC airport and depart for Moab approx. 4 hr 12:30pm | Lunch en route 3:00pm | Arrive at Titan Tower outside of Moab. Set up and shoot 7:00pm | Approximately sunset and wrap. Drive into Moab. Check into Hotel TBD 7:30pm | Welcome Dinner 8:30 - 10:30pm | Post Production sessions 10:30 - 12:30am | Night time photo excursion (for those interested)

Philip Pastuhov Leading the DAA Experience Phil Pastuhov is an academy award winning aerial director of photography with over 120 feature films and 100’s of commercials to his credit. His credits include Lord of the Rings, Matrix, James Bond, Spiderman, Mission Impossible to name a few. He’s worked with top directors, actors and producers around the world and loves seeing the world from above. For over 30 years, Phil has specialized in gyrostabilized camera platforms from helicopters and now feels the time is right to bring that knowledge and experience into the world of drone cinematography. Ian Montgomery Pilot and Post Production Editor Ian owns and operates sfdrones.tv, a San Francisco based aerial cinematography company. He has been piloting drones for the past 5 years and holds an FAA 333 exemption and a part 107 certification. He pilots, both solo and in tandem, with Phil as his camera operator.
